This analytical position paper aims to open discussion on the future naturalized technology of reading. Our analysis contributes to the discussion that scholars in human-computer interaction should borrow from other disciplines. We begin with seven-floor technology levels pyramid, which ends with naturalized technology. We look for the place of paper and digital book in this pyramid, currently somewhere between invisible and vital technologies. We discuss scenarios for the book, using current theories of reading from both philosophical and neuropsychological viewpoints. Finally, we show inspiring quantitative and qualitative data gathered during a "total research'' into the literary culture. They illustrate the ongoing change in the reading ecosystem.

Content available remote Tworzenie e-booków za pomocą języka HTML
PL
Omówiono krótko niektóre standardy i formaty plików e-booków, koncentrując się na formacie MOBI. Przygotowania pliku w tym formacie można dokonać za pomocą języka HTML. Zaprezentowano aplikację Adobe Dreamweaver przeznaczoną w zasadzie do projektowania stron i portali internetowych. Pokazano kolejne kroki tworzenia pliku e-booka za pomocą tej aplikacji oraz wybrane zaawansowane zagadnienia. Przykład e-booka dla smartfonu zamyka referat.

Selected standard and formats of e-book files have been presented. Special attention has been devoted to MOBI format. Such a file can be designed and produced using HTML language. Adobe Dreamweaver application, used usually for Internet pages and portals design, has been presented. Subsequent stages of e-book design using this application have been shown, along with more advanced topics. An example of e-book for smartphon platform closes the paper.

Content available ICT in higher education: an experience with e-books
EN
The present paper seeks to explain the diverse advantages of virtual books and also the main barriers that make it difficult their implementation in the classroom. A brief review of the literature on ICT, e-learning, distance education and e-books will be complemented with a case study about the preparation, development and implementation of an e-book. The paper could be helpful both for systems analysts and for teachers when they are developing and implementing e-books.

Content available Koncepcja systemu e-learningu dla osób 50+
PL
W opracowaniu przedstawiono koncepcję systemu e-learningu dostosowanego do potrzeb beneficjentów projektu „Efektywni 50+” realizowanego przez WWSI i partnerów. Przeanalizowano dobre praktyki w kształceniu e-learningowym osób 50+, a w szczególności rewidentów, księgowych oraz pracowników biura obsługi klienta. Uwzględniono wyniki badań europejskich, metodykę prowadzenia szkoleń e-learningowych, współczesne narzędzia e-edukacji oraz wnioski i rekomendacje z badania diagnostycznego przeprowadzonego w ramach projektu. Na tej podstawie zaproponowano sposób organizacji szkoleń oraz opisano potrzebne do tego celu metody i narzędzia. Sformułowano również wskazówki dla autorów treści dydaktycznych oraz instrukcje dla prowadzących szkolenia.

The paper presents the concept of e-learning system designed to project “Effectively 50+”conducted by WWSI and partners. Best practices in e-learning education of 50+, in particular, auditors, accountants and customer service staff were analyzed. The results of European research methodology of e-learning courses, modern tools of e-learning and the conclusions and recommendations of the diagnostic research were considered. On this basis, the e-learning methods and tools for “Effectively 50+” project were proposed and characterized. The paper shows also the guidelines for authors of educational content and tips for trainers.

Content available E-chemia w szkole
EN
Nowadays dynamic development of electronically supported teaching and learning methods exerts significant influence on modern teaching of chemistry. This resulted in E-chemistry: a combination of computer science and chemistry which covers many fields of knowledge, from education of chemistry and scientific information access to computer modeling of chemical compounds and reactions (Fig. 2). At present, majority of universities resigns from publication of printed materials for students and provide access to teaching materials published on-line. Current electronic systems offer a great variety of workspaces and channels to facilitate distribution of information to students, enhancement of face-to-face courses, e-books creation, preparation of teaching materials, tests and electronic exams, management of electronic lessons, or even creation of virtual chemistry laboratories. For instance, chemistry students have an on-line access to the chemical databases, publications and lots of software for chemistry. An e-learning system gives a possibility of mixing various kinds of objects such as text, images, animations, quizzes, interactive applications or links to other web sites. Furthermore, adaptive courses based on cognitive trials, learning styles, and relationships between learners can enrich each other, enabling the system to provide the learners with courses which fit their needs more accurately. There is a number of acronyms used in e-learning, often with similar meanings. Published materials and users’ activities are managed by a set of dedicated computer programs called Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). An e-learning system together with a VLE can have one of the following names: Course Management System (CMS), Learning Content Management System (LCMS), Learning Management System (LMS), Managed Learning Environment (MLE), Learning Support System (LSS) or Learning Platform (LP). E-learning systems base on a computer network and provide an on-line access to educational materials, therefore e-learning can also be called Online or Mobile Education [1]. In this paper the author shows an overview of e-learning and then a specific application of e-learning of chemistry used at the Department of Chemistry at Wrocław University of Technology [2, 3, 4], presenting some practical solutions applied.
