Training in order to prepare operational land forces troops to carry out their tasks is the most important aim for all command bodies whose main effort is concentrated on preparing organisational (functional) cells to conduct tasks. In reference to the Polish Armed Forces, the main problem is that the existing concepts to adjust the system of command training only to national requirements have become outdated. A conclusion can be drawn that the system developed and implemented in the 90s of the past century does not meet the training standards binding in NATO armies. Taking into consideration the problem of functioning of the training system of mechanised - light and/or armoured - heavy brigades' commands, one can assume that its aim should currently be to prepare the commanders to plan and command the operational and tactical actions conducted by subordinated units on national, allied and international level on the territory of the country and outside. Therefore the knowledge and abilities of the brigade’s commander and staff officers must ensure effective and rational decision making concerning the use of troops (sub-units) in any situation due to operational tasks and needs to fulfil assumptions thanks to which these tasks can be achieved.

Introducing „Rules and Regulations of Armed Forces Operations”, which largely changes former process of command, causes an urgent necessity to work out and implement new artillery regulations. In the current discussion there is being considered the possibility of applying, through adapting to our conditions, solutions functioning in leading NATO armies, particularly in American and German ones. New artillery regulations express this trend. Moreover, proposals how to adapt procedures used in other NATO armies to our conditions arise in military staffs and units. These activities need to be evaluated as an attempt to fill in the vacuum that appeared when the old „Regulations of Artillery Tactical Operations” expired. The analysis of training materials and publications and also discussions with other artillery officers made the author of the article take positions towards the artillery process of command conducted by division commander’s commanding post. The article is based on research carried out by the author’s while working out his Ph.D. dissertation. The bibliography of the research include NATO standardisation documents, and publications concerning the problems of division, brigade and mechanised battalion command, particularly in the artillery command area.

Adapting the system of the forces logistic support command in the Polish Republic Armed Forces to NATO structures and procedures will require achieving compatibility and interoperability with the developments used in this area in NATO leading armies (USA, Germany, Great Britain). Achieving this level of standardisation will consist in detailed defining logistic competencies of commanding bodies working on a command post and on a rear (logistic) command post, precising their organisational structure and developing rational principles of functioning. This article presents organisational and spatial structure of logistic command bodies and the principles of rear command post functioning in leading NATO armies. Many developments shown in this article might be applied in the Polish Armed Forces.
