Aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Reifeninnendrücke bei Straßenfahrt und Arbeiten auf dem Acker muss der Reifeninnendruck angepasst werden. Dies geschieht mit Hilfe einer Reifendruckregelanlage. Die Anforderungen an Ackerschlepper-Reifen (AS) sind auf der Straße schnell und verschleißarm sowie auf dem Acker bodenschonend und Zugkraft übertragend zu sein. Lange Zeit schien die "Acker-Straße-Anforderung" nur mit Verstellung des Reifendruckes vernünftig realisierbar zu sein, d.h. auf der Straße mit einem Reifeninnendruck von 1,6 bar, auf dem Acker von ca. 0,6 bar. Im Jahr 2003 brachte der Reifenhersteller Michelin mit dem Niederquerschnittsreifen Xeobib einen AS-Reifen heraus, mit dem es möglich sein soll, auf jedem Terrain mit einem Einheitsluftdruck von 1,0 bar zu fahren. Aus der Praxis liegen mittlerweile einige Erfahrungen vor. Es fehlen jedoch bisher systematische und detaillierte Vergleiche zwischen dem Xeobib mit Einheitsluftdruck und einem Standard-AS-Reifen mit Reifendruck-Verstellung, die im Rahmen dieser Untersuchungen angestellt werden.

Due to the different tire pressures for transport and fieldwork the tire pressure must be adjusted to the current application. This is done by using a tire pressure control device.The requirements on agricultural tractors tires are being quickly and low-abrasive on the road as well as tensile force transmitting and soil-conserving in the field. For a long time the "field-road-requirement" was only feasible by the adjustment of tire pressure because the optimal pressure for transport is 1,6 bar, but it is 0,6 bar in the field.Since 2003 Michelin, one of the leading manufacturers of tires, has another solution for this problem: Xeobib, a tire with one pressure for both applications. That is a low-profile tire which is working with a consistent tire pressure of 1,0 bar.By now, experience in using this technology is available but methodical and detailed comparisons between the Xeobib and a standard agricultural tractor tire with pressure control device are not drawn. This is the aim of the inquiries which will be presented in this article.
