Additive manufacturing (AM) technologies – 3D printing – are a cause of undergoing revolution in the field of electrochemistry. In this review paper, we describe how electrochemistry benefits from 3D printing and how 3D printing can be merged with electrochemical tools. We provide a basic description of the 3D printing technologies that are commonly used to prepare electrodes, parts of electrochemical configurations and electrochemical cells, along with the used materials and their properties. We also underline different methodologies used to activate conductive printouts, a step that is an inherent part of the 3D printed electrodes application. Finally, we cover chosen applications of 3D printed objects covering electroanalytical detection of drugs, biomolecules, and illicit drugs along with the application in energy storage devices.
