Solid polymer electrolytes based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) doped with LiPF6 have been prepared using solution casting technique. Electrical properties of prepared electrolyte films were analyzed using AC impedance spectroscopy. The ionic conductivity was found to increase with increasing salt concentration. The maximum conductivity of 8.94 × 10-3 S∙cm-1 was obtained at ambient temperature for the film containing 20 mol% of LiPF6. The conductivity enhancement was correlated to the enhancement of available charge carriers. The formation of a complex between the polymer and salt was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The optical nature of the polymer electrolyte films was analyzed through UV-Visspectroscopy.

Content available remote Investigation of dielectric properties of heterostructures based on ZnO structures

The voltage and frequency dependence of dielectric constant є′, dielectric loss є″, electrical modulus M″, M′, loss tangent tanδ and AC electrical conductivity σAC of p-Si/ZnO/PMMA/Al, p-Si/ZnO/Al and p-Si/PMMA/Al structures have been investigated by means of experimental G-V and C-V measurements at 30 kHz, 100kHz, 500 kHz and 1 MHz in this work. While the values of є′, є″, tanδ and σAC decreased, the values of M′ and M″ increased for these structures when frequency was increased and those of p-Si/ZnO/Al and p-Si/PMMA/Al were comparable with those of p-Si/ZnO/PMMA/Al. The obtained results showed that the values of p-Si/ZnO/PMMA/Al structure were lower than the values of p-Si/ZnO/Al and p-Si/PMMA/Al.

Nondoped BiFeO3 (BFO) and doped Bi0.9La0.1Fe0.9Mn0.1O3 (BLFMO) thin films (d = 200-350 nm) were grown at 650- 750 °C by RF sputtering on Si and SrTiO3(100), coated by conductive LaNiO3 films and La2/3Ca1/3MnO3/SrRuO3 bilayers. The complex dielectric permittivity of the films was measured at room temperature in the frequency range from 10 MHz to 10 GHz using parallel plate capacitor structures. Dielectric properties of the polycrystalline BFO films were compared with those of the epitaxial quality BLFMO films, and it was seen that the latter has better microwave performance than the former. The dielectric losses were below 0.05 at 1 GHz frequency, which may be acceptable for microwave applications.

The dependence of frequency variations on the dielectric properties of Sm substituted barium lanthanum titanate was investigated. Dielectric ceramics based on the Ba4(La1-ySmy)9.33Ti18O54 system, where y = 0.0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, were synthesized and subsequently characterized for their structural and dielectric properties. The temperature dependences of the relative permittivity and the dielectric losses were measured in the frequency range from 10 kHz to 10 MHz, for temperatures ranging from 25 °C to 150 °C. The measurement system consisted of an impedance analyzer and a temperature chamber. Substituting Sm for La was an effective way to stabilize the variations in relative permittivity, within the temperature range of interest. No dielectric anomaly was observed in this temperature range. The temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency improved from 273.9 ppm/°C at y = 0.0 to 53.8 ppm/°C at y = 0.7. The relative permittivity of 90.33 and a dielectric loss of 0.09 were obtained at 25 °C for y = 0.5 at 10 MHz; the temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency was 106.8 ppm/°C. The materials under investigation have high relative permittivities, remaining constant under temperature variation, which therefore makes them suitable for applications in communication devices.

Content available remote Methods of quality characterization of foil-based capacitors

The quality of aluminium foil-based capacitors is sensitive to various technological parameters within the production process. There are a few methods of their quality assessment that can identify defects inside the wound foil structures, poor metal contacts or bad packing. These methods are often applied at the end of production to monitor the quality of the final products. Only a small fraction of the produced capacitors is checked by a long-lasting procedure of extensive and repeatable charging and discharging. This procedure makes it plausible that some capacitors can fulfil the assumed quality requirements but will deteriorate soon and can cause serious economic losses when used in equipment. Therefore, it is recommended to identify the most informative methods of capacitor quality assessment. This paper investigates the problem by presenting measurement results of the third harmonic index, dielectric loss and acoustic emission in type WXPC capacitors which are widely applied to reduce electromagnetic interference caused by domestic electric equipment.

Mieszaniny różnych polimerów są sporządzane w celu obniżenia ich ceny oraz zmodyfikowania własności. W tym samym celu stosuje się różnego rodzaju napełniacze, które wprowadzane do polimerów lub mieszanek polimerowych tworzą odpowiednie kompozyty polimerowe, najczęściej o polepszonych właściwościach użytkowych. Obecnie prowadzone badania polegają nie tylko na doborze odpowiedniego napełniacza, ale na modyfikacji tych napełniaczy w ten sposób, że dodane do mieszanek polimerowych zmodyfikują ich właściwości w z góry określony sposób.

In this article there is a description of four polymer compositions. Those compositions reveal interesting electric properties. In our research we examined electrical properties of filler polypropylene material. This material was examined in its pure form and with admixture of pure and modified linen. All fillers showed different influence on the examined polypropylene.

Opisano właściwości policzterofluoroetylenu PTFE) produkowanego przez Zakłady Azotowe w Tarnowie-Mościcach S.A. pod firmową nazwą Tarflen. Badania właściwości elektrycznych wykonano w Oddziale Technologii i Materiałoznawstwa Elektrotechnicznego Instytutu Elektrotechniki we Wrocławiu. Obejmowały one rezystywność skrośną i powierzchniową, przenikalność elektryczną, współczynnik strat dielektrycznych, wytrzymałość elektryczną, odporność na prądy pełzające i łuk elektryczny. Wyniki badań Tarflenu porównano z danymi katalogowymi innych firm produkujących PTFE.

Electrical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), produced by Zakłady Azotowe in Tarnow -Moscice S.A. (brand name Tarflen were tested in the Electrotechnicai Institute, Division of Electrotechnology and Materials Science in Wroclaw. Tests comprised: volume and surface resistivity, permittivity and dielectric dissipation factor, electrical strength, proof tracking index and arc resistance. Test results of Tarflen were compared with properties of PTFE supplied by other producers.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu modyfikacji poliimidu na relaksację dielektryczną. Stwierdzono, że dodatek węgla C60 nie wprowadza zmian w naturze beta-relaksacji, natomiast zmniejsza przenikalność dielektryczną. Analiza przy pomocy równania H-N sugeruje, że wskutek obecności fullerenów zachodzi generacja ładunku na granicy faz. Fullereny zapełniają wolne przestrzenie i powodują ograniczenie strat dielektrycznych.

The article presents the test results concerning the effect carbon C60 filler of elec. properties of filled Kapton and Upilex polyimides. The result showed that addn. of C60 carbon does not cause changes in beta-relaxation characteristics, however it reduces their dielec. permittivity. The anal. made through applying the H-N equation suggested that the presence of fullerenes in polyimides causes generation of a charge on the phase boundary. The fullerenes occupy free spaces that results in dielec. loss redn.

Dielectric investigations of ferroelectric liquid crystals in the frequency range 10-2Hz-5· 10 5 Hz enable to detect four loss processes. One of them (Goldstone mode) results from collective movements of molecules. The other ones may result from ionic conduction, from inhomogenity of sample (Maxwell-Wagner effect) or from the influence of electrodes (conducting ITO layers).It turns out that all the loss peaks (except this one resulting from the influence of electrodes) may be used for detection of phase transitions in the investigated liquid crystalline material. Recently synthesised liquid crystalline compound MHPFPBC [1] was chosen for investigation.

Badania dielektryczne ferroelektrycznych ciekłych kryształów w przedziale częstotliwości 10-2Hz-5· 10 5 Hz prowadzą do rejestracji czterech procesów relaksacyjnych. Jeden z nich (relaksacje Goldstona) jest wynikiem kolektywnych ruchów molekularnych. Pozostałe mogą wynikać albo z wpływu przewodnictwa jonowego, albo z niejednorodnosci próbki lub też mogą być wynikiem wpływu elektrod. Okazuje się, że wszystkie te procesy relaksacyjne (z wyjątkiem procesu wynikającego z wpływu elektrod) mogą służyć detekcji przejść fazowych w badanym materiale ciekłokrystalicznym.

Celem pracy jest zbadanie wpływu porowatości pozornej porcelany na jej współczynnik stratności dielektrycznej przy uwzględnieniu napięcia, czasu działania napięcia i efektu histerezy.

The porosity of ceramic material is characteristic physical property, whereas the dielectric loss factor is one of the criteria of assessment of majority insulation materials. The determination of relationship between porosity and dielectric loss factor for mentioned material is purposeful. High field strength results that the dielectric loss factor depends on material properties and thermal effect and ionisation. The voids are excellent dielectric in low field strength, but in high field strength they are serious material defects. The purpose of the presented investigation was study the relationship between dielectric loss factor, voltage, time and effect of hysteresis.
