Awareness of ergonomic working conditions among employees

Purpose: The aim of the paper is to assess the ergonomic awareness of employees covered by the integrated ergonomic diagnosis of the working environment in terms of improving technical and psychosocial conditions in selected production and service companies. Design/methodology/approach: The article explains the concept of ergonomic awareness and describes the degree of compliance of assessments of working conditions issued by the employees themselves with the assessments of ergonomic analyses carried out by experts. The ergonomic diagnosis was based on an in-depth interview with the employee, supported by a developed set of questions and employee observation in the workplace. The research has been carried out in 11 companies that are small and medium-sized enterprises in the Silesian Voivodeship. Findings: The ergonomic condition of the work system is improving, but it is still not satisfactory. Conducted research revealed the need to pay attention to employees’ perception of issues related to work ergonomics. Originality/value: The results obtained are important in terms of the proper provision of working conditions.

W dobie powszechnej industrializacji i rozwoju technologicznego, wpływ czynników związanych ze sposobem wykonywania pracy jest jednym z podstawowych elementów kształtujących warunki pracy. Powszechna mechanizacja/automatyzacja procesów produkcyjnych oraz wykorzystywanie techniki komputerowej powoduje, że w przypadku coraz większej liczby stanowisk pracy mamy do czynienia nie tylko z elementami materialnego środowiska pracy oddziałującymi na organizm pracownika, ale także z obciążeniem statycznym i obciążeniem psychicznym. W artykule przedstawiona została diagnostyka jednego ze stanowisk pracy biurowej (dyspozytor metanometrii automatycznej): obok diagnostyki elementów materialnego środowiska pracy (oświetlenie, hałas) i przestrzeni pracy ocenie poddano także obciążenie statyczne, rozmieszczenie elementów informacyjnych i sterowniczych oraz wysiłek psychiczny.

These days, in the widespread industrialization and technological development, the influence of factors related with the way of working, is one of the basic elements which create the working conditions. Widespread mechanization/automation of production processes and the use of computer technology result in a growing number of workplaces where not only are we facing the elements of material work environment which act on the human body, but also the static load and psychological burden. This paper presents a diagnosis of one of the workplaces in the office (automatic methanometry dispatcher). Beside the diagnostics of elements of the material work environment (lighting, noise) and the working space, the paper also analyzes the static load, location of information and control elements as well as the mental effort.

W referacie przedstawiono wspomagane komputerowo techniki ergonomiczne oceny stanowiska pracy maszynisty lokomotywy elektrycznej. Podano wyniki badań dotyczące zastosowania systemów ekspertowych oraz budowy modelu człowiek - maszyna - otoczenie. Przedstawiono próbę określenia własności tego układu przy wykorzystaniu metody sieci neuronowych w modelowaniu zachowań człowieka i własności mechanicznych maszyny.\

The paper presents computer aided technics of ergonomic level evaluation of electric locomotive driver's work-place. The results of research refer to application expert system and building man - machine - environment system were shown. The paper contains a test of determine the properties of this system based on artificial neural networks.
