Studium obejmuje koncepcję ideową dwóch głównych obiektów Wystawy Światowej Expo 2010 we Wrocławiu Brama Expo (Expo Gate) oraz Hala 2010. Usytuowano je w centralnej heliocentrycznej części planowanego założenia urbanistycznego, opracowanego przez zespół w Biurze Rozwoju Wrocławia. Tereny Expo, położone na zachód od historycznego centrum Wrocławia, zajmują obszar około 80 ha (ryc. 1). Główna idea proponowanego założenia polega na wyraźnym zaakcentowaniu wejścia głównego (wejście młodości) w postaci czytelnego znaku orientacyjnego w przestrzeni zachodniego Wrocławia, nazwanej Bramą Expo oraz wielkowymiarowej kopuły prętowo-cięg-nowej, nazwanej Halą 2010, która ma przyjąć ekspozycję rozproszonych pawilonów; przestrzeń przykrytą i dostępną dla wszystkich krajów. W tej przestrzeni byłoby eksponowane bogactwo tradycyjnych kultur, jako pozytywne oddziaływanie nauki i środków masowej informacji. The subject of the paper is the presentation of the authors' design study of a set of central objects for the previously planned World Exhibition Expo 2010. The concept of the two main central objects, one being a dome cover (Hall 2010) and the second one (Expo Gate) in the form of a tall object, is compatible to similar objects existing in the historic exhibition areas of the city of Wroclaw. The Hall 2010 is designed as a multi-purpose object, it has a dome form of a relatively small rise and its clear span equals 365.25 m, which is the counterpart of the years' length measured in the number of days. The Expo dome is supported by 52 spatial stanchions. The supports are shaped as prismatic space structures and disposed at distances of 22.5 m. The number of supports equals the number of weeks in the year. The tension-strut structure of the roof consists of four concentric hoops having suitable forms. The number of hoops equals the number of seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter). The cover has a circular shape in the base projection. In the central part of the dome is a large opening of the diameter of 73.05 m. The cladding of the roof is designed by means of membrane sheets spaced onto appropriate secondary arches with steel tension members. The height of the Expo Gate equals half of the diameter of the Hall 2010. The tall building called the Expo Gate plays the role of the Expo Center containing appropriate conference offices and halls and it is equipped with necessary technical installations. A certain part of the perimeter structure is suitably shaped and purposely exposed in order to make visible in the facades of the building the letter symbol being the capital letter of the name of the city - Wroclaw.
