Przedstawiono tendencje w budowie oprogramowania służącego do gromadzenia, przechowywania i wykorzystywania wiedzy inżynierskiej. Prezentowane zagadnienia są wynikiem doświadczeń autorów, zebranych podczas prac nad aplikacją służącą do wspomagania inżynierskich procesów projektowych.

The article presents the latest mechanisms aiming at knowledge collection, storage and use in applications supporting the processes of design knowledge storage. Presented problems derive from authors' own experience gained during their work on the application supporting those processes. However, the latest trends of the discipline found in literature, have also been taken into consideration.

The initial part of the paper concerns literature concepts of systems for collecting, storing and re-using the engineer.s knowledge. A set of attributes was created for comparing different concepts and applications. Afterwards the presented literature concepts were analyzed and compared. The conclusions of the comparison helped to develop a new concept of the knowledge storage application. The concept of that application (its functionalities, architecture, working scenarios) was described in the final part of the paper. The prototype version of that application has been built already.
