In this paper an application of time - frequency analysis technique for damping identification is presented. The continuous wavelet transform employed to decompose of the impulse response of structures into time - scale domain. Presented method is verified on simulation results for two degrees of freedom system with constant and variable damping.

The paper explores the potential of using artificial neural networks, for assessment of flexible steel joints, based on dynamic data. The study was carried out on a three types of steel joints, for which natural frequencies were recorded from dynamic tests. The results of this work showed that a neural network trained with experimental dynamic data was capable for detecting actual state of the joint.

The backpropagation neural network (NN) was applied to the calculations of response spectrum of traffic induced vibrations in [3, 4, 5 ]. NN was elaborated and fuzzy relations were used this time as shown in Fig. 1. The process mentioned above was done in several phases. As a result a new NN consisted of five layers (40-22-5-37-100 - neurons each) has been built and applied here. The effects of the application of this network are compared to the results of the measurements in the same road and traffic conditions. As a consequence more precise traffic induced vibrations response spectra (more precise than those published in [ 5 ]) are obtained.

This paper presents a method of analysing the strength of the beater forming part of the dust-removal device of a boiler when subject to cyclical striking, of the hammer. The finite element method (FEM) was used for this analysis. First the physical models of the hammer and beater are formulated and then a cycle of computer simulations is carried out, as a result of which it is possible to determine the distribution of dynamic compressive stresses in the beater during the impact phases. The results of the analysis can assist designers of dust-removal devices of boilers.

In this article there is presented a method of a model order selection with the use of a self-organizing neural network that classifies data contained in a stabilization diagram. There is also shown a comparison between results of model order selection obtained with the use a neural network and results obtained with the use of the stabilization diagrams method. The method of model order selection with the use of a neural network aims at eliminating errors made during a model order visual assessment on the basis of a stabilization diagram.

Underground coal and copper are exploitation in two Polish mining regions causes mining tremors. The main problem discussed in the paper was formulated as the neural network evaluation of a relation between mining tremor energies, epicentral distances and acceleration response spectra. Neurally evaluated spectra were compared with spectra computed on the basis of experimental data. The main advantage of the neural approach is that the prediction of acceleration response spectra can be performed without recording of surface vibrations. The presented way of computation of acceleration response spectra can be peculiarly applied to the prognosis of mining tremors influences on structures.

The fundamental assumption of this paper is the analogy between the dynamics of a rigid body and of an elastic shell structure. These structures belong to a class of non linear dynamical systems whose configuration space includes a product of Euclidean space with the rotation group. The particular care is exercised towards approximation in space and in time domain with the discussion on stability and correctness of the solutions. On the grounds the six-field shell theory, a formal structure of the initial-boundary problem, descending from the extension of the existing results in the statics of the hyper-elastic shells, is presented. By building into the proposed algorithm to our own existing software, some numerical simulations of motion of a rigid body and of shell structures are presented and discussed.

In this paper a procedure is presented for the analytical synthesis of optimal vibration isolation with preview for simple biomechanical models of a sitting human - operator body subjected to random excitations. For chosen forms of vibration isolation criterion the influence of time of preview on the effectiveness of isolation was analysed. The numerical analysis was applied to illustrate graphically the quality of isolation for the assumed forms of criterion.

This paper presents the propagation of coupled waves along a cable. The amplitudes and local wave number arę determined. The effect of non-constant tension and curvature are taken into account. The non-linear coupling of waves is examined. The theoretical analysis is illustrated with numerical calculations for an overhead cable AFL-6-240.

In the paper the system man-tool-object built in the form of network of closed-loop blocks with feedback between tool and operator was presented. The human-operator was considered as composition of mechanical and control models. The transient response of the system operator-vibroisolation system between handle and tool's body, on the sudden changes of the pressure force applied to the handle was simulated and analyzed in the "Matlab-Simulink" environment.

In the paper the problem of orthotropic actuation of transverse structural vibrations using the Interdigitated Electrode Piezoelectric Fiber Composites (IDEPFCs) is analysed. The system considered is a thin symmetrically laminated rectangular plate with the embedded active IDEPFC layers or patches glued to the plate surfaces. The uniform fields approach is applied to derive the electromechanical constitutive relations and to model the piezoelectric device effective properties. The governing equation of the plate motion induced by the actuators supplied with an external voltage is formulated and solved for the steady-state case and simply supported boundary conditions. The influence of the piezoceramic material fraction and the active composite architecture including an orientation of the principal material axes on the dynamic response of the system is numerically examined and discussed.

EN
The approach to describe the contribution of interface phenomena on acoustical emission in solids is proposed. It is based on the mathematical model of locally gradient solids which take into account the interface nonhomogeneity of interaction energy. On the model problems the regularity of dynamical behavior owing to the new arisen boundary is study.

EN
Equations of motion have been deduced for a plate strengthened with an orthogonal framework of ribs, taking into account the discrete placing of the ribs. An accurate solution of these equations has been obtained for the case when the plate reinforced with the ribs placed along one of the co-ordinate directions. For the plate strengthened with one longitudinal rib the influence of discrete placing of this rib and its rigidity on the magnitudes of the wave parameters of the harmonic waves propagating along the plate was studied by the numerical example.

The paper presents a theoretical study of damping nonlinear vibrations in a two-mass model of mechanical system containing torsion damper. It is assumed the starting of system by a harmonic forced with uniformly varying frequency and constant amplitude of the forced moment. In the work take into consideration a simultaneous structural friction phenomena. The problem is considered on the assumption of a uniform unit pressure distribution between the contacting surfaces of friction discs and plunger. The aim of the analysis is to asses the influence of geometrie parameters system, external load and unit pressure The equations of motion of the examined system was solved by means of the Krylov - Bogolubov - Mitropolski method and and digital simulation method.
