The aim of the article is to discuss the use of EFIT6 software in the process of recreating the appearance of a human based on a verbal description. This is an example of the use of innovative tools in forensics. The publication discusses the evaluation of the methods of creating a memory portrait over the years, pointing to the drawing, assembly and computer methods. The issues related to the use of a memory portrait as evidence in criminal proceedings were also characterized. The individual functions of the EFIT6 software related to the shaping of individual elements of human appearance related to its identification were presented in detail.

DTŚ Katowice–Gliwice is connecting 6 cities: Katowice, Chorzów, Świętochłowice, Ruda Śląska, Zabrze and Gliwice. The last part of this highway (segment of Gliwice) was put into service on 20 march 2016. The main element of this segment is two-aiseled (fouraisled in places) tunnel which is made in the form of a sealed tub. The route, stages of implementation and solutions of Gliwice segment was described.

This paper considers the nearness of sets in local descriptive admissible covers of nonempty sets and the problem of quantifying the nearness of such sets. A brief review of descriptive Efremovič spaces as well descriptive intersection and union provides a foundation for the study of descriptive admissible covers. Descriptively near sets in admissible covers contain sequences of points with members having similar descriptions. The motivation for this approach stems from the need to consider fine-grained neighbourhoods of points in admissible covers that facilitate highly accurate measures of nearness of tiny parts of sets of objects of interest. A practical application of local admissible covers is given in terms of micropalaeontology and the detection of minute similarities and differences in microfossils, useful in the study of climate change, mineral and fossil fuel exploration.

The aim of the present study was to show and estimate three gardens adapted to visit by people with disabilities, especially by the blind and poor sight people. In this paper Arboretum and Institute of Physiography in Bolestraszyce, Botanical Garden - Center for Biological Diversity Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Powsin (Warsaw, Poland) and didactic path in Myślęcinek (Bydgoszcz, Poland) were describe. After the recognition of the present gardens and evaluate for example tablets, surface or plants, to state, that The Sensory Garden Bolestraszyce has the best conditions for people with disabilities. Didactic path in Myślęcinek needs some changes, to be more friendly for this group of people.

The paper demonstrates new approach of rendering the graph point series called gantts. The gantts are placed in the two dimensional graph which contains the information about available production sources in the Real manufacturing process. The gantt is defined as one dimensional coloured dash which has unique position. To have the interaction with a user, gantts are accompanied with the description text giving detailed information about each gantt. All gantt descriptions must be displayed without overlapping with each other. To optimize this task, the modified version of the RBF neural network with biases is applied. With respect to the similarity to the RBF structure, the new type of neural network is named RBF 2. We also give the picture of positive and negative attributes of the solution based on the neural network architecture.

This paper gives a description of the head shield of Alona protzi, a rare species of Cladocera (water fleas) whose separated head shield has not yet been described in detail. Subfossil head shields of A. protzi were found in sediment cores taken from lakes in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Poland. Despite the rarity of the species this suggests a wide distribution of A. protzi in northern Europe. The ecology of A. protzi is poorly known. The environmental spectrum of the finding sites was wide and ranged from relatively nutrient poor clear water lakes to eutrophic turbid water lakes, indicating that A. protzi is not narrowly restricted. Most of the lakes were, however, meso-eutrophic with neutral to high pH, and with a relatively low abundance of submerged macrophytes. However, we cannot exclude the possibility that A. protzi mainly lives in groundwater and is only occasionally transported into lakes.

The problem considered in this paper is the evaluation of perception as a means of optimizing various tasks. The solution to this problem hearkens back to early research on rough set theory and approximation. For example, in 1982, Ewa Orowska observed that approximation spaces serve as a formal counterpart of perception. In this paper, the evaluation of perception is at the level of approximation spaces. The quality of an approximation space relative to a given approximated set of objects is a function of the description length of an approximation of the set of objects and the approximation quality of this set. In granular computing (GC), the focus is on discovering granules satisfying selected criteria. These criteria take inspiration from the minimal description length (MDL) principle proposed by Jorma Rissanen in 1983. In this paper, the role of approximation spaces in modeling compound granules satisfying such criteria is discussed. For example, in terms of approximation itself, this paper introduces an approach to function approximation in the context of a reinterpretation of the rough integral originally proposed by Zdzisaw Pawlak in 1993. We also discuss some other examples of compound granule discovery problems that are related to compound granules representing process models and models of interaction between processes or approximation of trajectories of processes. All such granules should be discovered from data and domain knowledge. The contribution of this article is a proposed solution approach to evaluating perception that provides a basis for optimizing various tasks related to discovery of compound granules representing rough integrals, process models, their interaction, or approximation of trajectories of discovered models of processes.

This paper analyses the consistency of a set of MPEG-7 low level audio descriptors when the input audio stream has previously been compressed with a lossy compression algorithm. The analysis results show that lossy compression has a detrimental effect on the integrity of practical search and retrieval schemes that utilize the low level audio descriptors. Methods are then proposed to reduce the detrimental effects of compression in searching schemes. These proposed methods include improved searches, switched adaptive scalar and vector prediction, and other prediction schemes based on machine learning principles. Of the proposed schemes the results indicate that searching which incorporates previous and future frames combined with machine learning based prediction best nullifies the effects of compression. However, future scope is identified to further improve the reliability of the MPEG-7 audio descriptors in practical search environments.

In this paper a self-constructed multiple-technique electron spectrometer is described. It consists of the main analysis chamber connected with the preparation chamber via the gate valve and magnetically coupled sample transport system. It was mainly designed for study of III-V semiconductor surfaces with a special emphasis on various surface processing.

A binary pattern represented by its (d1, d2)-weighted skeleton is decomposed into primitives of given shape, which correspond to appropriate skeleton subsets. The primitives are defined in a context-dependent way and are suitable to cope with large variability the shape of a pattern may assume. The resulting decomposition is rotation invariant, and is natural with respect to both the number and the type of primitives forming the pattern. The computational cost of the process is modest, since all the computations are performed on sets of skeletal pixels.
