The PGI research of lignite was primarily focused in the area of eastern Poland. An extensive research of the lignite deposit geology mmediately after the end of World War II led to numerous discoveries of large lignite deposits, including some of the biggest in Europe (Legnica, Bełchatów, Poznań Tectonic Trough). The data collected during exploration and prospection of lignite deposits made possible to elaborate stratigraphy (litho- and palynostratigraphy) of Paleogene/Neogene lignite-bearing association on the Polish Lowlands and prepare its detail correlation with the stratigraphic schemes of East Germany. Sedimentological studies of lignite-bearing association led to the definition of basic types of lignite-bearing facies, related to sedimentary conditions in different zones of alluvial sedimentary basins. They also allowed the establishment of relationships between lignite-bearing sedimentation and tectonic evolution of the lignite basins in tectonic depressions and cups of salt domes. Recently, the impact of climate change on the development of brown coal sediments has been subject to study and the critical thermal conditions for the most intense anthracogenesis in the Polish Lowlands, which took place in Miocene, were defined.

The paper presents the criteria that were used to assess the environmental constraints for prospective areas of the occurrences of either metal ores or chemical raw materials in Poland. The databases associated with “The Geoenvironmental Map of Poland at a scale 1 : 50 000” were used as the basis for the development of these criteria, which have allowed applying an innovative approach. The final result is presented as a datasheet of individual environmental conditions for every prospective area under consideration. Each datasheet includes, among others: geological conditions which determine the type of mining methods to be applied, and environmental conservation areas and elements vulnerable to negative impact of deposit exploitation. The integral part of each datasheet is a location sketch showing the position of the prospective area on the backdrop of the available data on environmental conditions. This data may be used as a basis for further, more detailed studies. Moreover, it may be helpful for local administration bodies in zoning and land use planning tasks.

This review describes the formation process of deposits on fuel injectors or valves in combustion engines and summarizes the state of knowledge on the basic types of detergent-dispersant (DD) additives commonly used. It also presents an overview of basic thermal analysis techniques used in the analysis of detergent dispersing additives for motor fuels.

W artykule przedstawiono oddziaływanie banków komercyjnych bezpośrednio na stabilność finansów, a pośrednio na stabilność gospodarczą i wzrost PKB. Przedstawiono analizę wpływu polityki depozytowo-kredytowej, stóp procentowych i kanałów kredytowych na poziom PKB i inwestycji. Analizę przeprowadzono zarówno w wartościach nominalnych, jak i realnych.

The article describes the direct influence of commercial banks on financial stability and the indirect effect on economic stability and GDP growth. An analysis was presented of the influence of deposit and credit policy, interest rates and credit channels on the levels of GDP and investments. The analysis was carried out both in terms of nominal and real values.

The Givetian to Frasnian boundary interval in the N part of the Kielce region (Holy Cross Mts.) consists of dark-coloured shales, marls and micritic limestones defined as Szydłówek Beds. The upper parts of the Szydłówek Beds are well exposed in the Kostomłoty-Mogiłki and Górno-Józefka quarries. These sections are situated in Kostomłoty transitional facies zone between the shallow-water carbonate platform and the deeper Łysogóry basin. The uppermost parts of the Szydłówek Beds comprise many fine-grained intercalations: laminated calcisiltites, calcarenites, calcirudites and coquinas beds. The shales, marls and micritic limestones are hemipelagic deposits of deep, quiet and oxygen-depleted basin, whereas grained limestones correspond with shallower water and higher energy environment. Laminated calcisiltites and finer calcarenites originated in the environment below storm wave base and are interpreted as surge-like turbidity flows deposits. Thicker calcarenites, calcirudites, and coquinas beds were deposited about storm wave base and are interpreted as tempestites.
