Content available remote The oak chronology (948-1314 ad) for the Żary area (SW Poland)
EN
The study presents the results of investigations aimed at construction of a site chronology for oak wood from the surroundings of Żary (SW Poland). The 366-year chronology ZY_2006, covering the period 948-1314 AD was determined on the basis of 189 individual ring patterns representing samples of archaeological wooden objects lifted at the excavation works led in the Old Town of Żary in the years 2004-2005. The chronology produced exhibits high similarity to the standards for the neighbouring regions: Wielkopolska and Lower Silesia. The statistical parameters of the chronology are very high and, thanks to the signature years determined, it should be an excellent tool for dating samples of mediaeval timbers from the whole region of Ziemia Lubuska, including some with relatively short dendrochronological sequences.

Content available remote The Scots pine chronology (1582-2004 ad) for the Suwałki region, NE Poland
EN
The presented dendrochronological research resulted in the construction of a pine standard for the Suwałki region, spanning the years 1582 . 2004 AD. The chronology was produced from 80 samples representing historical timbers and living trees. The historical timbers came from wooden structures of the churches in Sejny, Berżniki, Krasnopol, and Wieliczki, as well as from a few buildings in Suwałki, whereas the living-tree samples were taken in the Wigry National Park. The established chronology was compared with other regional standards for the neighbouring areas. The t-value for the compared standards fell in the range 6.2-18.9. Additionally, positive and negative signature years were defined. The over-four-hundred- year chronology opening possibilities of dating relevant timbers from architectural objects and archaeological excavations is a succeeding step in constructing of a multi-century pine standard for that region of Poland.

Content available remote Dendrochronological Scots pine standard (1110 - 1460 ad) for North-Eastern Poland
EN
The study presents preliminary results of investigations on construction of the regional dendrochronological standard for Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) for NE Poland. The produced standard 2NPINA is 351 years long, spanning the period 1110-1460 AD. It is based on three local chronologies established from wood samples from Gdańsk (2GDAA1A; 1116 . 1460 AD), Ostróda (2OST1B; 1251 . 1411 AD), and Pułtusk (2PUAA1A; 1110 . 1408 AD). The chronologies presented display relatively high mutual similarities. The highest similarity was noted for the Gdańsk and Ostróda chronologies (t=6.36), somewhat lower for the Pułtusk and Ostróda (t=5.0), and the lowest one for the Pułtusk and Gdańsk patterns (t=4.67). Construction of the standard 2NPINA is the first step in establishing a several-hundred-year pine chronology for this region, hitherto beyond the extent of dendrochronological signal, which rendered unsuccessful any attempt of dating historical wood of pine.
