Silica rock (chalcedonite) of very good filtration qualities has been modified with manganese oxides and used as filling in a de-manganizing filter. On the basis of measuring low-temperature nitrogen adsorption it has been proved that the material (chalcedonite) after modification and de-manganization process has not changed its porous structure, which allowed for keeping its filtration characteristics.

Research results for iron and manganese compounds remova[ efficiency in underground waters. The research was conducted in a pi-loting system, charged directly from the intake. The oxygen source was pure oxygen and air. Obtained results prove better efficiency of treatment processes when using pure oxygen.
