The article contains a literature review, experimental results, and a Finite Element Model (FEM) composition. Orthogonal turning tests were executed in the range of cutting speeds and feed rate, after every test chip was collected. Further investigation was done using FE model validation and experimentation, which uses results of the experimental zone in which the built-up edge did not form and the cutting itself is of even plastic deformation. The essence of this research is that the adequacy of the composed FE model to the real physical process should conform not only to the evaluation of cutting forces, but also to the evaluation of chip form, that is, segmentation frequency.

W pracy podjęto próbę zwrócenia uwagi na zasadność wykorzystywania w problematyce objętej inżynierią materiałową osiągnięć fizyki wysokich ciśnień, a między innymi w kształtowaniu warstw wierzchnich i formowaniu powłok ochronnych oraz regeneracyjnych o unikatowych właściwościach. Wspomniano również o zachodzących nadzwyczaj szybkich procesach transportu masy i bardzo dużych odkształceniach plastycznych z dużymi prędkościami.

In this work we tried to show necessity of wider application of high pressures to form protective and regenerative coatings. The coatings formed using high pressure have better useful parameters when compared to coatings obtained by plasma or gas-glame spraying methods. It was stated that during the process of high pressure formation there occur little known phenomena that should be furter investigated and analysed.
