In this article, the current condition of the defensive economy in Poland was elaborated. It was pointed out that there is a need for an innovative approach to it in our country. At the beginning, the concept of the defensive economy was identified. In the second issue the authors focused their attention on the modern redefinition of the views on state security and threats. However in the third issue an opinion about the current condition of the defensive economy in our country was expressed. The last point is an attempt at outlining the possibilities of improvement of examined phenomenon through using innovativeness and creativeness.
