The authors suggest the extention of the logistics scope, which will solve a number of problems of the defense industry. The rational use of the logistics tools in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will allow us to use the existing potential, increase the effectiveness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, improve the security of the country and bring the domestic military economy to a fundamentally new level. The term of military logistics is defined. The article describes basic powers and authorities of the bodies of military management and logistics approaches to logistics in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Proponuje się rozszerzenie sfery zastosowań logistyki, która rozwiąże szereg problemów kompleksu obronno-przemysłowego. Racjonalne wykorzystanie narzędzi logistycznych w Siłach Zbrojnych Ukrainy pozwoli wykorzystać istniejący potencjał, zwiększyć efektywność Sił Zbrojnych Ukrainy, zwiększyć bezpieczeństwo kraju i doprowadzić krajową gospodarkę wojskową do zupełnie nowego poziomu, zdefiniować pojęcie logistyki wojskowej. Określono podstawowe kompetencje organów zarządzania wojskowego i określono logistyczne podejścia do logistyki w Siłach Zbrojnych Ukrainy.

The aim of the article is to define the essence and characteristics of the defence economics’ fundamental area i.e. defence economics. In order to reach this goal, the author includes information that allows the reader to explore different ways of defence economy’s definitions, its specific features, basic tasks, the structure of defence economy system and consequently characteristics that result from it, as well as the idea how to command and control the defence economy.

Security economics is a relatively new part of the discipline of economics and at the same time a fast growing field. There is no agreement on the concept of security economics yet. Quite many definitions have been produced, but none of them is generally accepted. The very concept of security economics is contested. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the reader to terms: security, human security, what leads to better comprehension of economic security. The second part provides general information of defense economy during peacetime and wartime, expenditures during these times and, through literature review, familiarizes the reader with defense economic during peace and wartime. The third chapter describes the normative problem of defense economics. The fourth and the last part reveal economic security in the era of globalization when the conventional warfare risks are diminished, but the risks of terrorism and local conflicts become more important.

This article is the first of three to present modern British defence economy. This article discusses the post war defence-economic thought, since the end of the Second World War to 1978. On the background of political, military and economic conditions, there have been characterised works of David Greenwood, Mary Kaldor and Gavin Kennedy, the most distinguished British economists of that time dealing with defence problems. The scope of respective authors’ research is different. Greenwood was interested in problems of the military priorities role in shaping the amount of military expenditures. Kaldor dealt with the relations between factors shaping defence industry potential and problems which the weapon trade creates for the importing and exporting countries economy. Kennedy analysed the defence-economic problems the most widely. The topic of his research were the considerations on the notion, scope and comparison of defence expenditures, social-economic consequences of defence expenditures, the defence industry notions and specific character, advantages from weapon trade and the division of burdens due to common alliance defence.
