The article presents a proposal of use a decision table to support the decision-making process in scope of maintenance management in mining companies. In particular, it refers to decisions related to evaluation and improvement of mining machinery use in the mining production process. The article presents the theoretical foundations of decision tables building and characteristics of the most important stages of creating this table. This whole process was tried to refer specifically the mining industry. For this reason, during construction of the decision tables, the results of research on the effectiveness of the selected mining machines were used. The conducted research provided a lot of data, information and knowledge on the work of the particular mining machines, especially regarding the number and reasons for unplanned breaks during the machines’ work. The developed decision table will consist of conditions, rules and actions whose purpose is to define the recommendations for the particular groups of participants in the mining production process. The obtained results will form the basis for the development of the recommendations and proposals of actions to improve the level of use of mining machines. The authors focused mainly on the practical use of tables to support the decision-making process regarding maintenance and improvement of effectiveness of mining machines. The obtained results confirm the validity of the adopted assumptions. Decision tables can become an important tool that supports the decision-making process within mining companies.

The text has been described the basic structure of decision tables in date processing based on design rules. We compared classic and multiple-valued decision tables supporting the thermal calculations of hydraulic tank. There are shown examples of decision solutions in diagnostics of hydrodynamic bearing and in the description of a finite automata. Furthermore, it has been shown that it is possible to build the classic decision table in the design of piston rod machining. The article describes modal decision tables in the design of semi-finished products for the production of hydraulic cylinder glands.

Content available remote Greedy Algorithm with Weights for Decision Tree Construction
EN
An approximate algorithm for minimization of weighted depth of decision trees is considered. A bound on accuracy of this algorithm is obtained which is unimprovable in general case. Under some natural assumptions on the class NP, the considered algorithm is close (from the point of view of accuracy) to best polynomial approximate algorithms for minimization of weighted depth of decision trees.

Content available remote A Development of Inclusion-degree-based Rough Fuzzy Random Sets
EN
Given a widespread interest in rough sets as being applied to various tasks of data analysis, it is not surprising at all that we have witnessed a wave of further generalizations and algorithmic enhancements of this original concept. In this study, we investigate an idea of rough fuzzy random sets. This construct provides us with a certain generalization of rough sets by introducing the concept of inclusion degree. The underlying objective behind this development is to address the problems which involve co-existing factors of fuzziness and randomness thus giving rise to a notion of the fuzzy random approximation space based on inclusion degree. Some essential properties of rough approximation operators of such rough fuzzy random sets are discussed. Further theoretical foundations for the formation of rules constructed on a basis of available decision tables are offered as well.

Content available Credibility Coefficients for Objects of Rough Sets
EN
In this paper focus is set on data reliability. We propose a few methods, which calculate credibility coefficients for objects stored in decision tables. Credibility coefficient of object is a measure of its similarity with respect to the rest of the objects in the considered decision table. It can be very useful in detecting either corrupted data or abnormal and distinctive situations. It is assumed that the proper data appear in majority and can be separated from improper data by exploring mutual resemblance. The proposed methods take advantage of well known and widely used data mining technique - rough sets.

Content available remote D-nets - Petri net form of rule-based systems
EN
A formal approach to design and analysis of rule-based systems incorporated into embedded systems is presented in the paper. RTCP-nets, a subclass of timed coloured Petri nets, are used as a modelling language. They enable modelling of embedded systems incorporating an RBS (rule-based system). Such a system is represented as a D-net (decision net) that constitutes the bottom layer of the model. D-nets are used to represent a set of generalized decision rules with non-atomic attribute values. In order to assure reliable and efficient performance, analysis and verification of selected qualitative properties (such as completeness, consistency and optirnality) are carried out. The analysis and verification stage are based on Petri nets analysis methods and are included into the design process. Design and verification are supported by computer tools.

Content available remote Optimal solution of a decision table: a rough set based software toolkit
EN
As the amount of information in the world is steadily increasing, there is a growing demand for tools to analyze information. Rough set methodology is very useful in data analysis of an information system such as in data generalization and data reduction. In this paper, we generalize the method proposed by Pawlak for reduction of a special and important class of an information system called decision table, where the attribute values are almost identical, not exactly equal. After simplification of decision table we obtain minimal solution (not necessarily unique) from a set of input data considering that they are almost equal. As the simplification of a decision table does not yield unique result, so, in general, many minimal solutions are possible and making choice of 'best' or 'optimal' solution from amongst them is not an easy task. The 'best' or 'optimal' criteria are different for different decision makers depending on their intensions. In this paper, a software toolkit (based on rough set theory) has been proposed for finding optimal solution(s) from amongst all possible minimal solutions of a decision table. As significance of attributes plays a very important role in rough set analysis, the proposed method for getting optimal solution(s) has been developed by using the measure of significance of attributes.

Content available remote A possibilistic decision logic with applications
EN
In this paper, we investigate a knowledge representation formalism in the context of fuzzy data tables. A possibilistic decision logic incorporating linguistic terms is proposed for representing and reasoning about knowledge in fuzzy data tables. Two applications based on the logic are described. The first is the extraction of fuzzy rules from general fuzzy data tables. In this application, the knowledge in the tables may be made explicit by the formulas of the logic or used implicitly in decision-making. The second is for the fuzzy quantization problem of precise data tables. It can be viewed as a special case of the first, however, due to some special properties of the problem, a polynomial time rule extraction process can be obtained. Finally, the relationship of the logic with some works for handling uncertain information in data tables is also discussed.

Content available remote (alfa, beta) reduction of decision table : a rough approach
EN
In this paper, we generalise Pawlak's rough approach for simplifying a decision table in an information system. We consider an information system where attribute values are not always quantitative, rather subjective having vague or imprecise meanings. Some objects may have attribute values which are almost identical, i.e., they can't be distinguished clearly by the attributes. Considering this observation, we present a generalised method for reduction of decision table for different choice values of alfa and beta, a being for condition attributes and beta for decision attributes where Alfa, Beta € [0, 1]. For a = 1 and Beta = 1, the method reduces to Pawlak's method.

Content available remote Requirements specification with decision tables and rough sets
EN
The paper examines decision tables as a requirements specification technique. In our approach, state machines model the dynamics of reactive systems, whereas decision tables provide a knowledge base defining their behaviour in each state. We apply rough set theory, which provides a methodology of decision table analysis, to formally verify and minimize the decision tables. The resulting tables can be converted automatically into executable code, thus bridging the gap between analysis, design and implementation.
