Presently long-lasting locally measured precipitation time series are considered to be a valid base for hydrodynamical modeling of the future storm water drainage and combined sewerage systems functioning. Access to precipitation time series is strongly limited in Polish conditions. Moreover their quality is often not suitable for hydrodynamical models needs. Having this in mind substitution of measured precipitation time series by synthetic precipitation time series is proposed for drainage networks modelling. Synthetic precipitation time series can be generated by means of canonical and microcanonical random multiplicative cascades on the base of daily precipitation totals.
