This analytical position paper aims to open discussion on the future naturalized technology of reading. Our analysis contributes to the discussion that scholars in human-computer interaction should borrow from other disciplines. We begin with seven-floor technology levels pyramid, which ends with naturalized technology. We look for the place of paper and digital book in this pyramid, currently somewhere between invisible and vital technologies. We discuss scenarios for the book, using current theories of reading from both philosophical and neuropsychological viewpoints. Finally, we show inspiring quantitative and qualitative data gathered during a "total research'' into the literary culture. They illustrate the ongoing change in the reading ecosystem.

W artykule przedstawiono rozwój technologii czytania w dwóch środowiskach: druku i cyfrowym. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na czytanie naukowe. Przedstawiono rodzaje czytania z uwzględnieniem dostępnych w literaturze kryteriów podziału, takich, jak: szybkość i aktywność czytania, czytanie płytkie i immersyjne, ciągłe i nieciągłe oraz techniki unikania czytania. Przedstawiono zaangażowanie ciała w procesie czytania.

The article presents the development of the technology of reading in two environments: print and digital. Particular attention was paid to scientific reading. Several types of reading are described with regard to the criteria available in literature, such as the speed and the activity of reading, shallow and immersive, continuous and discontinuous reading as well techniques for avoidance of reading. The involvement of the body in the process of reading is shown.

The aim of the article is to acquaint the reader with methodology that appeared based on suggestiology and physiology on which all unconventional teaching methods derived from. Together with the increase of our knowledge on processes taking place in the brain, the methods are improved as well. This article is to hint how to activate these mind reserves that each of us is equipped with. The reader learns about advances in reading and memorising techniques, among others by repetition. The author proposes to do an exercise – creating “ a map of thoughts” that effectively eliminates the faults of simple note taking. The map of thoughts was exemplified on the lecture entitled “Troops’ Command System”.
