In this paper, on the occasion of publishing the fiftieth issue of Space & form, the authors discuss a range of problems from its history. The anniversary issue of the journal is also an occasion to present the current legal situation with a focus on threats that the academic journal market in Poland currently faces. A broad investigation of legal acts and information about selected journals presents matters concerning academic journals in Poland and present information and statistics, specifically for selected periodicals from the architecture and urban planning discipline. Selected determinants of the scoring system of academic journals in Poland have been presented.

W artykule, z okazji wydania 50 numeru Przestrzeni i formy omówiono wybrane zagadnienia z jego historii. Rocznicowe wydanie czasopisma było również okazją do przedstawienia obecnej sytuacji prawnej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zagrożeń dotyczących rynku wydawnictw naukowych w Polsce. Szerokie badania aktów prawnych, informacji o wybranych czasopismach przedstawiają zagadnienia dotyczące czasopism naukowych w Polsce oraz prezentują informacje i statystyki w szczególności wybranych periodyków z dyscypliny architektura i urbanistyka. Pokazane zostały wybrane uwarunkowania punktacji czasopism naukowych w Polsce.

Artykuł przedstawia problem wykorzystywania prywatnych zbiorów publikacji po zakończeniu działalności zawodowej. Wskazano na brak procedur umożliwiających przekazanie prywatnego księgozbioru do biblioteki uczelni po przejściu na emeryturę.

The article presents the problem of preserving private collections of publications after the end of professional activity. It pointed to the lack of procedures for transferring a private book collections to university libraries after retirement.

On the occasion of the publication of the journal's fortieth issue, the author analysed data concerning Polish academic journals in the architecture and urban planning discipline which have qualified for the Academic journal support programme. The comparison of various aspects of all these journals provides an image of the differences between them in light of the fact that all of them received the same ratings from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in 2019. This article also presents the history of the development of Space & FORM, which is a journal with an increasingly international range from year to year.

Z okazji publikacji 40-tego numeru czasopisma, autorka podjęła się analizy danych dotyczących polskich czasopism naukowych z dyscypliny architektura i urbanistyka, które zakwalifikowały się do programu „Wsparcie dla czasopism naukowych”. Porównanie różnych aspektów we wszystkich czasopismach daje obraz różnicy pomiędzy nimi, a jednocześnie w 2019 roku one wszystkie otrzymały od Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego taką samą ocenę. Pokazano również rozwój czasopisma „Przestrzeń i forma”, jak z roku na rok staje się periodykiem o coraz większym, międzynarodowym zasięgu.

Publication activities have played an important role in the life of the Polish Geological Institute (PGI) since its foundation in 1919. In 1919 the first geological map and in 1920 the first text publication were put out whereas in 1921 the first series appeared that has been issued till today: Transactions of the PGI (Prace Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego). In 1938, the series Bulletin of the PGI (Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego), and in 1957 the Geological Quarterly, the flag journal of the PGI, were initiated. Their first mission was to disseminate results of studies conducted by the PGI scientists, but since 1999 the Geological Quarterly has been a truly international journal. The PGI co-edits two other international journals (Geologica Carpathica, Volumina Jurasica) and since 1992 has been a publisher of the most popular Polish geological journal, Przegląd Geologiczny. This journal was established in 1953, but the first publisher was Wydawnictwa Geologiczne that stem from the PGI in 1953, and finally in 2000 all publication activities returned to the PGI. In addition, a range of various books has been published, including a monumental scientific synthesis entitled Geology of Poland that was initiated in 1963; its first part was published in 1968 and the last one in 2004 (altogether 25 parts in six volumes). After World War II, one of the top priorities of the PGI was to elaborate various synthetic, detailed and special maps as well as atlases, and this activity, which otherwise is the proof of the notable increase of our knowledge on the geology of Poland, belongs to the great achievements of the PGI. Within a century, about 15,000 geological maps were published. Since the last decade, a number of publications dealing with various tasks of the Polish geological survey and the Polish hydrogeological survey has distinctly been increased

Over the last fifty years the Department of Publications has conducted its statutory tasks, publishing a range of cartographic and text contributions. During all these years, serial maps, geological-tourist maps, guides and atlases have been published. The Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute is the publisher of the leading Polish journals: English-language Geological Quarterly (listed in the Journal Citation Reports database) and Polish-language monthly Przegląd Geologiczny, as well as the co-publisher of the annual Volumina Jurassica. In addition to these important journals, there is a number ofpublishing series, such as: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego, Prace Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego, Polish Geological Institute Special Papers, and Profile Głębokich Otworów Wiertniczych. Apartfrom the publications issued on a regular basis, the Department ofPublications also publishes books from the series Wokół Geologii, conference and informational materials, and books for young readers (Nie tylko dinozaury, Sezam Polski). Despite the huge amount of tasks, the Department of Publications is constantly trying to improve the substantive and technical level of its works so that the publications of the Polish Geological Institute will always be at the world’s highest level.

O bibliometrii można mówić i pisać albo emocjonalnie dobrze, źle, albo merytorycznie, z dystansem, z pogłębioną refleksją. W cyklu artykułów na ten temat opublikowanych ostatnio w Elektronice, nr 7, 8, 10/2014 oraz 3, 5/2015, pisano wykorzystując wszystkie trzy sposoby. Narzędzia bibliometrii starano się opisać w miarę obiektywnie, zapewne nie uniknięto subiektywizmu w opisie stanu obecnego i perspektywicznej roli bibliometrii cyfrowej w niedalekiej przyszłości. W niniejszej części cyklu dyskutowane są wybrane ważniejsze narzędzia niezwykle dynamicznie globalnie rozwijającej się bibliometrii cyfrowej. To właśnie przez te narzędzia czujemy działanie bibliometrii cyfrowej „na własnej skórze”.

Bibliometrics may be spoken and/or written about bad, good or seriously analytically with some distance and deepened reflection. A series of papers devoted to digital and analog bibliometrics published in Elektronika Journal: 7, 8, 10–2014, 3, 5–2015 treated the subject in all three mentioned ways. We tried to describe bibliometrics tools in as objective way as possible. However, a lot of subjectivity was not possible to be avoided in the description of the current status of bibliometrics, and its perspective role in the near future. This part of the cycle of papers debates chosen, perhaps the most important, tools and toys of extremely fast developing digital bibliomterics. Due to these tools we feel the digital bibliometrics action on our faces.

The paper presents pricing models and pricing criteria for scientific electronic journals most of all in the scope of Science, Technology, Medicine (STM). It characterizes purchasing models for single journals, as well as packages, collections, within the scheme of consortia and aggregators.

Czasopisma naukowe odgrywają ważną funkcję w edukacji ekologiczno-ekonomicznej. Jednak ze względu na wąską specjalizację są wykorzystywane przede wszystkim w edukacji młodych pracowników nauki. Studenci, głównie wyższych lat studiów, sięgają po nie w przypadkach samodzielnej pracy naukowej - pisania referatów, wystąpień, prac dyplomowych. O ile w przypadku studentów, czasopisma pełnią rolę informacyjną (wzbogacanie zasobu wiedzy), to w przypadku pracowników nauki można mówić również o funkcji motywacyjnej - polegającej na pobudzaniu i rozwijaniu zainteresowań oraz mobilizowaniu do pracy. Ważną funkcją jest również promocja własnych dokonań na szerszym forum czytelniczym.

In the paper, against the background of the idea of scientific journal and the measure of the journals' prestige, are presented the most significant foreign and Polish journals dedicated to environmental-economic issues (in the area of economy and management sciences). Accessibility of scientists and students to theses journals in libraries of chosen higher learning institutions in Poland are presented.
