An analysis of the cutting and blanking processes of the titanium sheets

In the paper an influence of the cutting methods on the cut-surface quality is given. Three cutting methods were applied: guillotining, abrasive-waterjet and laser cutting. A WT1-0 titanium sheet was subjected to the cut operations. The cut-surface appearance, microstructure, microhardness and roughness of the cut-surface were tested. Moreover, a numerical simulation of the blanking process of a titanium disk was done. The simulation was carried out with the ADINA System v.8.3 based on the finite element method. The influence of the clearance and tool radius on the blanking course was analysed.
