Z postaci deformacji powłoki obiektu gruntowo-powłokowego można szacować momenty zginające i naprężenia w paśmie obwodowym blachy falistej. Na tej podstawie ocenia się bezpieczeństwo konstrukcji podczas jej budowy, a także eksploatacji. Jako miarę deformacji powłoki przyjmuje się zmianę krzywizny w kluczu pasma obwodowego. Taką metodykę badań wykorzystuje się w analizowanych obiektach dzięki stosowaniu geodezyjnej techniki pomiarowej.

Flexural stresses calculated on the basis of the deformation of the peripheral stripes of corrugated metal shells in soil-steel structures are analyzed in the paper. The curvature change of a peripheral stripe in a shell crown is assumed as a measure of deformation. The upper part of the analysed shells, regardless of their cross-sectional geometry (e.g. arch or elliptical), has a constant radius of curvature R. The shape of this shell part becomes deformed, differing from the circular shape as a result of the shell’s self-weight, soil pressure and other dead loads. The change of the radius of the curvature is determined in the paper on the basis of the coordinate system consisting of points forming triangles inscribed in circles. The change of the curvature during the construction stage and the maintenance stage allows to estimate bending moments and normal stresses in the shell crown and hence to evaluate the safety of the structure. The effectiveness of surveying techniques is assessed with the reference to the results of tensiometric measurements.
