Artykuł porusza tematykę rewitalizacji Zespołu Pałacowego „Sobieskich” w Lublinie oraz możliwości jego rewaloryzacji. Autorzy przedstawiają problemy i usterki stanu technicznego występujące w budynku oraz przytaczają wyniki ekspertyz wykonanych dla poszczególnych elementów założenia. Pragnąc ukazać szanse wynikające z modernizacji omawianego kompleksu, autorzy podają zrealizowane już w Polsce rewitalizacje podobnych obiektów. W celu przedstawienia potencjału tkwiącego w opisywanych budynkach, w kolejnych akapitach opisany został opracowany, lecz niestety nie zrealizowany projekt dla Założenia Pałacowego. Ponadto, autorzy prezentują nowy pomysł na rewaloryzację powyższych obiektów. Ostatnie akapity ukazują szkic utworzenia Regionalnego Ośrodka Dialogu Kultur i Tożsamości, który to byłby szansą rozwoju Lubelszczyzny, kreatywności jej mieszkańców, popularyzacji architektury, a także możliwością przypomnienia o wielokulturowości regionu oraz wynikającej z tego faktu jego tożsamości.

The article concerns a question of revitalising the “Sobiescy” Palace Complex in Lublin as well as various possibilities of revalorising it. The authors demonstrate problems of and defects in the technical condition of the building while referring to expert opinions on specific elements of the facilities in question. In order to exemplify chances resulting from prospective modernisation of the discussed complex the authors present already revitalised buildings in Poland. With the purpose of showing considerable potential of the edifice the authors set forth a developed, but unfortunately not implemented project of revitalising the Palace Complex. Moreover, the authors illustrate a new idea for revitalising the facilities in question. The last paragraphs of the article present an outline of creating a Regional Centre of Identity and Cultural Dialogue that would be a chance for popularising architecture and developing not only Lublin Region but also creativity of its citizens. Moreover, adapting the complex would also provide opportunities for recalling multiculturalism of the region and identity resulting from this feature.

Perception of architecture is determinated by the process of seeing. Seeing which is defined in two ways: firstly as a geometrical dependence separating the seen from not seen, as a result of which on the surface of the form there an objectively determinable border is visible which is a derivative of the place from which we are looking at. But seeing is not only the simply relation between the object and its image, as Marleau Ponty claims - „Between the one and other one appearance there are our existence, thought, sensitivity or, briefly, there is our meaning or fenomenological being inscribed into". A form which is built in our mind is a synthesis of some available views. It is filtrated by the individual consciousness of the observer. Therefore, the border of architecture could be the function of visibility and the borders of somebody's awareness of the space.
