By "multifunctional museum complexes" author means urban complexes with predominant function of a gallery or a museum (or at least equal to other cultural and educational functions), combined with very wide range of servicing functions. Due to economical changes, but also because of changing of the human needs of spending free time, they are very characteristic on the edge of the 21st Century. Multifunctional museum complex, is probably the most rational and up to date model of organizing the contemporary museum in the era of globalization of culture and information. It offers very wide range of services, as well as wide range of emotions to it's clients. Only such complexes could be competitive with suburban malls and multiplexes and please very different client's needs. The architecture of the buildings, together with the composition of surrounding public space are two of the most important features of the museum complex. They become to play the role of the marketing element. Multifunctional museum complexes have been built at the both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. As two examples of approaching the urban context, author have choose two complexes - Getty Center in Los Angeles and Museums Quartier in Vienna - which have been recently finished in completely different cities, different cultures and circumstances.

Dążenie do stworzenia idealnego miejsca dla obcowania z kulturą muzyczną, oddalonego od uciążliwości współczesnej cywilizacji zostało zrealizowane. Zaczęto tworzyć kompleksy kulturalne łączące sale koncertowe z obiektami wystawienniczymi, edukacyjnymi, komercyjnymi, jak również z terenami zieleni parkowej. Założenia urbanistyczne sal koncertowych, obok podstawowej roli obiektu kultury muzycznej, zaczęły również pełnić rolę parku muzyki, czyli miejsca o współrzędnej roli architektury i krajobrazu, gdzie odbywać się mają zarówno imprezy muzyczne, jak i prezentacje sztuki na wolnym powietrzu. Koncepcje te stały się elementem kształtującym przestrzeń publiczną w terenach rekreacyjnych. Zespoły takie powstaja zarówno w rejonie centrów miast, jak i na peryferiach. Projekty obiektów sal koncertowych, takich jak Kirishima Aria, projektu Fumihiko Maki w Kogoshima, Japonia (ryc. 1, 2), Cite de la Musique projektu Chrystiana de Portzamparca w Paryżu (rys. 3, 4), Niigata Performing Arts Center projektu Itsuko Hasegawy w Niigata (ryc. 5, 6), Auditorium - Parco della Musica projektu Renzo Piano w Rzymie (ryc. 7, 8) i sala koncertowa Capellae Cracoviensis projektu Wacława Serugi (ryc. 9, 10, 11, 12) powstały na podstawie opisanych powyżej dążeń. Podane przykłady przedstawiają róznorodnośc rozwiązań współczesnych kompleksów kulturalnych, zachowujac wspólna ideę muzyki w parku. Założenia takie łączone są z terenami rekreacyjnymi poprzez wprowadzanie zieleni na dachyb obiektów, podkreślanie charakteru natury zbiornikami z wodą, tworzą przestrzenie atrakcyjne i przyciagające ludzi do swojego wnętrza. Tendencja łączenia zespołów sal koncertowych z założeniami parkowymi podkreśla wagę kultury w przestrzeniach rekreacyjnych.

Aiming at the creation of an ideal place for communing with musical culture, far from the burdensome contemporary civilization has been realized. Cultural complexes, combining concert halls with exhibition, educational, commercial objects as well as areas of park preenery have been created. Urban layouts of concert halls, beside the basic role of an object of musical culture have also begun to play the part of a musical park, that is a place of an coordinate role of architecture and landscape where open-air musical events as well as presentations of art could take place. Those conceptions have become an element which shapes public space in recreational areas. At present, some complexes are coming into existence, both in city centres and on outskirts. Design of concert halls, such as Kirishima Aria by Fumihiko Maki in Kogoshima, Japan [Fig. 1, 2], Cite de la Musique by Chrystiana de Portzamparca in Paris [Fig. 3, 4], Niigata Performing Arts Centerby Itsuko Hasegawy in Niigata [Fig. 5, 6], the Auditorium - Parco della Musica projektu Renzo Piano in Rome [Fig. 7, 8] and the Capellae Cracoviensis' concert hall by Wacław Seruga [Fig. 9, 10, 11] are based on the aspirations mentioned above. The examples show the diversity of solutions of contemporary cultural complexes, preserving a common idea of music in a park. Such layouts are combined with recreational areas thanks to introducing greenery on the roofs of objects, emphasizing the charakter of nature by resevoirs with water. they make attractive spaces which draw people to their interior. The tendency to combine some complexes of concert halls with park layouts stresses the importance of culture in recreational spaces.
