One of the aims of this work is to create a method of identification of critical elements (elements or groups of elements) in the energy infrastructure, and this method should allow ranking these critical elements by relevance to consumers (the consumer could be from the systems of different energy sector).The risk estimate of an element is one of the proposed sorting criteria for critical elements or their groups. It allows assessing the importance of the combination of critical elements and takes into account the probabilities of faults of these combinations. The key result of the research is the identification of the weakest links in the system, namely those elements, the failure of which (together with other elements) would lead to the worst consequences for the consumers and response to the availability of the infrastructure element.

The high-flux research reactor MARIA has been operated in Poland since 1975. Its core consists of loop type fuel channels placed in a beryllium block matrix. Irradiation of beryllium by neutrons results in a build-up of 6Li, and 3He isotopes with large thermal neutron absorption cross-sections. In addition, tritium is formed and decays into 3He which complicates the transmutation chains. Thus, the fuel management of the reactor depends on the beryllium poisoning. The isotopic transmutations in beryllium have to be computed in parallel to the fuel depletion. In this paper a comparison of the measured and computed results is given during: reactor operation in the period up to January 2004, modernization break in the reactor operation from January 2004 to February 2005 and reactor operation from February 2005. The measured and computed effects comprise: reactivity effects due to the fuel burn-up and beryllium poisoning by 6Li, and 3He.

In the report we have discussed a few aspects of SOC concept which in general have strongly influence on explicitness of mapping process. SOC idea is based on group of models and/does not seem to give quite clear instructions whether mapped phenomena exhibit SOC or not. To present the problem we have performed a computer simulation in order to investigate the effect of the critical point within the system evolution process without conservation. We have considered that on two-dimensional cellular automata whose rule consists of one or two subrules. The first one, based on Conway’s model (or very similar to), has represented the local behavior of transmission processes and has been applied in the experiment synchronously, as a fundamental mode. The second one, called a transport rule, has been applied sequentially. That subrule has described the motion of a fraction of individuals. As a result of comparing models of the various sets of rules for the applied size of lattice, we could find that the modified Conway’s model would be merely treated as subcritical.

W pracy wskazano możliwości optymalizacji decyzji eksploatacyjnych dzięki adaptacji metodologii RCM (ang. Reliability-Centered Maintenance), która poprzez integrację wielu dyscyplin nauki i techniki pozwala na efektywne technicznie i ekonomicznie planowanie działań serwisowych z uwzględnieniem warunków eksploatacji oraz oczekiwań użytkowników. RCM jest obecnie najpopularniejszą i najbardziej efektywną strategią zarządzania serwisem. Podstawy RCM zostały stworzone w latach 60-tych w przemyśle lotniczym USA. Dzięki serwisowi niezawodnościowemu uzyskano zmniejszenie kosztów eksploatacji samolotów przy jednoczesnej poprawie poziomu bezpieczeństwa lotów. Zaletą analizy RCM jest to, że może być przeprowadzona zarówno dla obiektów nowych jak i istniejących, a nawet już na etapie projektowania. W pracy przedstawiono propozycję oprogramowania ułatwiającego przeprowadzenie takich analiz oraz umożliwiającego wykonanie symulacji techniczno-ekonomicznych efektów proponowanych decyzji.

This paper presents possibilities of maintenance optymization with applying Reliability-Centered Maintenance based Methodology. RCM is a strategy that allow technically and economically effective maintenance task scheduling with respect to the users expectations in existing operating context. RCM is at moment the most popular and effective asset management strategy. RCM was developed over a period of thirty years in aviation industry. Applying RCM based techniques decreases flying costs and increases safety level. One of the benefits of RCM analysis is that it can be perform on the new or existing assets. RCM analyse can be applied even in the design phase. This publication presents software that assists in the analysis process, and allows to make economical symulations.
