Evaluation of Ecological Efficiency Resulting From the Application of Modern Buses In Urban Communications

The use of modern vehicles may contribute to limiting the adverse impact of urban transport on the environment. Evaluation of the options for choosing new means of transport in terms of economic and ecological benefits allows for the identification of the most advantageous variants. The solution is to consider replacing a bus compliant with a Euro III norm (base variant) with a one compliant with Euro VI (option 1) or with an electric counterpart (option 2). The evaluation of the solutions was based on the calculated parameters: a monetary value reflecting the energy cost of the analyzed buses and the ecological effect of the reduced emissions from the Euro VI bus or the electric bus compared with the Euro III vehicle. The ecological effect resulting from the use of the electric bus was determined taking into account the emissions from fossil fuels (coal, natural gas) and biomass. The method of cost analysis was used to evaluate the solution of replacing older buses with new ones (with different types of propulsion). It is based on calculating the unit cost of achieving the ecological effect of the solution.

Realizacja koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju na poziomie każdego przedsiębiorstwa oznacza podejmowanie działań w celu obniżenia zużycia materiałów i energii, zmniejszenia wielkości emisji substancji i innych obciążeń środowiska oraz produktywne korzystanie z jego zasobów. W przedsiębiorstwach transportu drogowego, wyrazem tych działań jest m.in. powiększenie stanu posiadania floty pojazdów ekologicznie czystych i energooszczędnych. W ocenie pojazdów transportu drogowego w aspekcie ich oddziaływania na środowisko i na zużycie energii pomocna może być metoda kosztowa, która polega na określeniu wartości pieniężnych obrazujących koszty zużycia energii i koszty emisji zanieczyszczeń w czasie użytkowania tych pojazdów. W pracy przedstawiono metodę kosztową i przykład jej zastosowania do oceny pojazdów transportu drogowego, która uwzględnia zużycie energii i aspekty środowiskowe. Dokonano oceny wpływu na koszty zużycia energii i emisji zanieczyszczeń paliwa silnikowego klasycznego (benzyna, olej napędowy) i paliwa alternatywnego (CNG i LPG). Najmniej korzystnie pod względem zużycia energii wypadł pojazd zasilany paliwem alternatywnym CNG.

Realization of the conception of sustainable development in each company means taking action to reduce the consumption of materials and energy, reduce emissions of substances and other environmental burdens as well as productive use of its resources. In the road transport undertakings, the expression of these activities is, inter alia, enlargement of the fleet with clean and energy-efficient vehicles. Cost method may be useful in the evaluation of road transport vehicles in terms of their impact on the environment and energy consumption. This method involves determining the monetary value depicting the energy costs and the costs of emissions during the use of these vehicles. The paper presents a method of cost and an example of its application to the assessment of road vehicles, which takes into account energy consumption and environmental aspects. The paper presents an assessment of the impact of the classic motor fuel (petrol, diesel) and alternative fuels (CNG and LPG) on the costs of energy consumption and pollutant emissions. The least favorably in terms of energy consumption was vehicle powered by alternative fuel CNG.
