Modern healthcare facilities generate more and more waste, and their management isa significant constitutes a significant cost of their functioning. The undertakings aimed at lowering the costs of expenses in waste management may have a positive influence on budgetary accounts in the institutions rendering health care services. On the example of a hospital in Lublin the costs of waste management and the possibilities to lower these costs by intensifying segregation procedures were presented. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie stanu gospodarki odpadami w poszczególnych oddziałach KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., czyli identyfikacja i charakterystyka źródeł powstawania odpadów w ciągu technologicznym KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Na podstawie analizy literatury wykonano schemat technologicznego wydobycia i przeróbki rudy miedzi przedstawiający źródła i rodzaje generowanych odpadów oraz sposoby ich zagospodarowywania. W artykule obliczono również koszty środowiskowe jakie KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. ponosi w związku z umieszczeniem odpadów na składowisku.

The paper deals with waste management problem in one of the biggest industrial waste producer -KGHM POLSKA MIEDŹ S. A. The aim of the paper is to present waste management in KGHM departments, namely identification and description of waste sources in copper production process. Based on literature analysis a scheme of copper ore mining and processing technology is proposed. It is focused on sources and types of waste and ways of waste development. Some aspect of financial issues are also investigated, an environmental cost related to waste dumping (unit price based on government environ-mental regulation) is estimated.
