Przedstawiono przykład możliwości wykorzystania metodologii SIX SIGMA w projektowaniu procesu produkcji rur zgrzewanych metodą prądów wielkiej częstotliwości. Celem była optymalizacja parametrów pracy linii (optymalizacja mocy zgrzewania). Jako przykład zaprezentowano element systemu "improve" (doskonalenie) DOE (design of experiment) dla najważniejszych parametrów procesu wpływających na jakość produkowanych rur.

For many years quality is placed as a priority for most of the worlds' enterprises. Continuous strives after quality improvement is noticed. In the years of 1980's SIX SIGMA — management program came into existence. It is currently used in many world concerns, especially in the automotive industry, but not only there. SIX SIGMA comes from new philosophy that promotes "Quality can not cost". The essence of SIX SIGMA is creating situation "win/win" on the border of clients 'need and enterprise's need. SIX SIGMA is a method of continuous improvement production and business processes allowing to decrease amount of mistakes virtually to zero. In statistics Sigma means standard chance variation. Six of the sigma means six-time standard distance. The goal of the program is decreasing defects number to 3.4 per one million. At one time this situation was thought impossible, and value 3 sigma was acceptable. Now leaders gain value 6 sigma in many processes. In the report the element of system "improve" — DOE (desing of experiment) for major parameters of the process that has an influence on the quality of welded tubes was presented.
