Contemporary civilization is invariably accompanied by disasters, industrial accidents, infectious diseases and increasingly frequent terrorist attacks. Despite the use of ever more sophisticated safeguards accompanying the development of civilization and modern branches of the economy, these phenomena will inevitably keep occurring. The possibility of sudden unforeseen incidents caused by the impact of chemical, biological, or radiological factors requires constant readiness of units of the State Fire Service. The work analyses the decontamination process used in Germany, North America and Poland. This enabled the development of proposals for organizing the decontamination process applied to personal protective equipment, constituting a combination of selected solutions, which allows for the implementation of systemic changes in the State Fire Service.
