The article presents investigation on the grinding rate constant. A selection function was measured for different raw materials using a ball mill, and effects of the grinding ball diameter and feed particle sizes on the materials grinding rate constant were investigated. The study was conducted for the mill on a semi-technical scale. The process was carried out periodically using several sets of grinding media. Relations for all investigated materials were expressed by the modified Snow equation. Additionally, the descriptions of the grinding rate was examined. The tendency in the variation of the grinding rate constant with the particle size was similar for all materials used, and was independent of the ball diameter. The author used two selection functions derived theoretically by Tanaka.

The article presents the results of studies on the kinetics of grinding of granite taking into consideration the morphology and mechanical properties of particular size fractions of the feed. The study was conducted in a mill on a semi-technical scale. Milling was carried out periodically using several sets of grinding media. The output fraction of the ground material was of size 3-5 mm. The granulometric analysis of the raw material was carried out in a multiple manner. The granulometric composition of milling product was analyzed every 30 minutes. Simultaneously, ground material was subjected to an analysis of the shape of grains and microscopic analysis of morphology and chemical composition. Strength tests of grains were performed applying selected fractions of particle size ranges. The change of particle breakage rate function Si, for selected particles size ranges, was described with the Austin-Gardner expression. The influence of destructive force on kinetics of grinding was defined.

The paper presents the results of studies on quartzite milling in a ball mill. The milling was conducted in a batch system, for diversified compositions of balls. The milling product was subjected to granulometrical, morphological and strength analyses. On the basis of the developed Reid's theory and using the Austin-Gardner equation, a form of the function circumscribing the specific rate of comminution of selected size fractions was determined. The values of the breakage rate function bi, for the mill's apparatus conditions were determined. The impact was investigated for a variable number of grinding media contact points on the values of specific rate S and the values of the breakage rate function bij. Furthermore, the values of coefficients occurring in the equations circumscribing the specific rate of milling S and breakage parameter bij were determined.

Artykuł przedstawia rezultaty badań dotyczących analizy kinetyki przemiału wybranych surowców skalnych z uwzględnieniem zmiennej liczby punktów kontaktu mielników. Przemiały prowadzono przy zmiennych składach kuł. Określono kinetykę zmiany średniego wymiaru ziania, jak również zmiany szybkości rozdrabniania poszczególnych klas rozmiarowych Otrzymane wyniki pozwoliły określić kinetykę przemiału, wiążąc jaz podstawowymi zależnościami występującymi w teorii momentów statystycznych. Szybkość rozdrabniania uzależniona została od zmiany liczby punktów kontaktu.

The paper presents investigation results concerning the grinding kinetics of selected raw materials with regard of a variable number of contact points. Grindings were carried out for variable balls' composition. The change of mean particle size and speed of grinding for each size class were described. The results allowed one to describe the grinding kinetics connecting it with basic relationships in the statistical moments' theory. The speed of grinding was dependent on a change of contact points'number.

Results of studies aiming at description of the grinding rate are discussed in the paper. During the milling process the ball numbers and batch weight were changed. The main purpose of the investigations was to determine the specific rate of grinding for different particle sizes. The grinding rate was expressed in a form of a correlation equation. Results of analysis were used to determine the process kinetics and the rate of grinding for particle fractions. The change of mean particle size in time was studied and the influence of ball composition and batch weight on the rate of grinding process and specific grinding rate was described.

The paper presents results of studies on sets of centers of spheres containing two different points or common point, and at the same time tangent to straight line, plane or sphere. The studies proved that these sets are conics and in the case of spheres passing through point and tangent to the plane or sphere - surfaces of revolution in the form of sphere, ellipsoid, paraboloid and double-sheet hyperboloid. Well known definition of parabola. as a set of equally - distant points from fixed point and straight line, has been extended to the remaining nondegenerated conics via exchanges straight line into circle. In this work original general definition of nondegenerated conics as a set of equally - distant points from two fixed and coplanar reciprocally passing circles was also given. Only one of these sets can be the straight line. It has been proved that two of these circles define anti-inversion and it could be realised on plane with orthogonal cones with common vertex and height. The results of these studies were also two algorithms of universal kinematic conic constructions which let us determine tangent line with its tangent point. The solutions of two exercises are given as ilustrating examples there.
