This article deals with the first hitting times of a Bessel process to a square-root boundary. We obtain the explicit form of the distribution function of the hitting time by means of zeros of the confluent hypergeometric function with respect to the first parameter. In deducing the distribution function, the time that a radial Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process reaches a certain point is very useful and plays an important role. We also give its distribution function in the case that the starting point is closer to the origin than the arrival site.

Dawson’s integral and related functions in mathematical physics that include the complex error function (Faddeeva’s integral), Fried-Conte (plasma dispersion) function, Jackson function, Fresnel function and Gordeyev’s integral are analytically evaluated in terms of the confluent hypergeometric function. And hence, the asymptotic expansions of these functions on the complex plane ℂ are derived by using the asymptotic expansion of the confluent hypergeometric function.

W pracy przedstawiono problem niejednoznaczności wyznaczania pochodnych ułamkowego rzędu wektora wirującego. Jest to związane z określeniem ułamkowej potęgi liczby zespolonej.

The paper presents problems of ambiguity of calculation of fractional derivatives for the rotating vector. This is related to the determining of fractional power of the imaginary number.
