Referring to the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM), the paper proposes a theoretical contribution to assess the uncertainty interval, with relative confidence level, in the case of n successive observations. The approach is based on the Chi-square and Fisher distributions and the validity is proved by a numerical example. For a more detailed study of the uncertainty evaluation, a model for the process variability has been also developed.

Niepewność pomiaru jest nierozerwalnie złączona z procedurami badawczymi lub pomiarowymi obowiązującymi w laboratoriach. Zgodnie z prawami obowiązującymi w przyrodzie nie ma dokładnych pomiarów, możemy jedynie wyznaczyć przedział, w którym wartość wyniku pomiaru się znajduje. Wielkość przedziału zależy od przyjętego poziomu ufności. lstotną sprawą jest wnikliwa analiza wszystkich składowych niepewności. Źle przeprowadzona analiza budżetu niepewności może doprowadzić do sytuacji, w której może zostać zaakceptowany wynik niezgodny lub może zostać odrzucony wynik zgodny. Niepewność pomiaru w ostatnich czasach jest wnikliwie analizowana zarówno przez ośrodki badawcze, laboratoria, jak i placówki naukowe.

Research or measuring procedures being in effect in laboratories are inseparably linked with the uncertainty of the measurement. According to rules observed in nature, there are no precise measurements, we can only determine the interval within which the value of the measurement result lies. Its size depends on the accepted confidence level. An insight analysis of all components of the uncertainty is an essential matter. Incorrect analysis of the uncertainty budget can lead to the situation in which an incorrect result is accepted or a correct result is rejected. The uncertainty of the measurement has been thoroughly analyzed lately by research centres, laboratories as well as scientific institutions.
