Content available Badanie wydajności silników gier komputerowych
PL

The purpose of this is to conduct performance testing of game engines using their built-in tools. Performance tests will be conducted for various hardware configurations. In order to implement the study, a simplified 3D game with a first-person view will be created. The game will be implemented in various game engines: Unity, Unreal Engine, CryEngine, Godot and Unigine, which will allow us to collect data for analysis to see which one will be the most efficient.

This paper provides practical guidelines for developing strong AI agents based on the Monte Carlo Tree Search algorithm in a game with imperfect information and/or randomness. These guidelines are backed up by series of experiments carried out in the very popular game - Hearthstone. Despite the focus on Hearthstone, the paper is written with reusability and universal applications in mind. For MCTS algorithm, we introduced a few novel ideas such as complete elimination of the so-called nature moves, separation of decision and simulation states as well as a multi-layered transposition table. These have helped to create a strong Hearthstone agent.

Content available remote Modeling Biological Systems Using Crowdsourcing
EN
Crowdsourcing is a very effective technique for outsourcing work to a vast network usually comprising anonymous people. In this study, we review the application of crowdsourcing to modeling systems originating from systems biology. We consider a variety of verified approaches, including well-known projects such as EyeWire, FoldIt, and DREAM Challenges, as well as novel projects conducted at the European Center for Bioinformatics and Genomics. The latter projects utilized crowdsourced serious games to design models of dynamic biological systems, and it was demonstrated that these models could be used successfully to involve players without domain knowledge. We conclude the review of these systems by providing 10 guidelines to facilitate the efficient use of crowdsourcing.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games focus mainly on struggles between two teams of players. An increasing level of cyberbullying [1] discourages new players from the game and they often chose a different option, that is, a match against opponents controlled by the computer. The behavior of artificial foes can be dynamically fitted to user’s needs, in particular with regard to the difficulty of the game. In this paper we explore different approaches to provide an intelligent behavior of bots basing on more human-like combat predictions rather than instant, scripted behaviors.

Advanced terrain models are currently commonly used in many video/computers games. Professional GIS technologies, existing spatial datasets and cartographic methodology are more widely used in their development. This allows for achieving a realistic model of the world. On the other hand, the so-called game engines have very high capability of spatial data visualization. Preparing terrain models for the purpose of video games requires knowledge and experience of GIS specialists and cartographers, although it is also accessible for non-professionals. The authors point out commonness and variety of use of terrain models in video games and the existence of a series of ready, advanced tools and procedures of terrain model creating. Finally the authors describe the experiment of performing the process of data modeling for “Condor Soar Simulator”.

The main objective in making this project was creating a functional game based on FPGA module, controlled by convenient controller and displayed on popular type of video-output device. The configured FPGA module allows playing simple popular retro game - Pong. It is displayed on VGA-compatible device (a lot of popular PC-displays, projectors) and controlled by standard PS/2 compatible PC keyboard or PCB mounted pushbuttons. The biggest problems in creating our project was generating correct video-output signals, capturing events sent by keyboard and synchronizing control signals with their actions. Parallel computing made all of that possible, working simultaneously without any problems. Game "engine" is really simple and it did not took a lot of lines of code in VHDL to implement it. It actually works just by setting appropriate values to coordinates of game elements (ball and platforms). Game is made for two players. The whole project was made in ISE Design Suite software provided by Xilinx.
