The subject of these research is the effect of the moisture content of the rye straw and oat straw compressed by cylinder and ram test assembly. It was assumed that the straws should be cut to pieces shorter than two thirds of the internal diameter of the test cylinder (ca. 20 mm). In the test a specified quantity of the straw was fed into a 32 mm dia. By 50 mm high test cylinder. The samples were initially compressed by a 1070 g weight. The relative density was tested for different moisture content levels. The samples were prepared by seasoning in a stationary climate chamber. The seasoning time was recorded. The moisture content was measured by a moisture analyzer. MTS Insight machine was used in the tests.
