Pojemność pojęcia standardu, spowodowana jego podwójną konotacją, tj. dostosowywaniem się do (nawet przeciętnych) oczekiwań, ale też i doskonałością, leży u podstaw postępującej standaryzacji ZZL. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie standaryzacji działań i procesów kadrowych jako realizowanej drogi zwiększania jakości ZZL. Ze względu na rozległość tematu uwaga została skupiona na dwóch aspektach: rozpowszechnieniu w praktyce kadrowej zarządzania przez kompetencje oraz konkursom w obszarze ZZL.

The wide capacity of the standard term, being a result of its double connotation, understood as adjustment to (even average) expectations, but as the state of excellence as well, lies under the advancing standardization in human resources management. The aim of the article is to present the standardization of personnel activities and processes as a way to increase the HRM quality being accomplished. Considering the broadness of the topic, the attention is focused on two chosen aspects referring to the division functioning in economy between resources (state), and streams (processes): the widespread in personnel practise of the competence model of management, and competitions, being a form of human resources departments certificates.

Scharakteryzowano produkcję materiałów ogniotrwałych w Polsce i w Europie w ostatnich 10 latach w porównaniu z produkcją światową. Omówiono bilans handlu zagranicznego, podkreślając wpływ innowacyjności i jakości materiałów wytwarzanych w Europie na wzrost ich eksportu. Przedstawiono zagrożenia wpływające na konkurencyjność wyrobów wytwarzanych w Europie. Porównano koszty energii i zwrócono uwagę na wpływ regulacji unijnych, w tym ETS i REACH, na koszty wytwarzania. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zmianom zachodzącym w Chinach. Podkreślono, że w sytuacji nadprodukcji materiałów ogniotrwałych w Chinach, przy dalszym wzroście niewykorzystanych mocy produkcyjnych w przemyśle stalowym i wzroście jakości produkowanych materiałów w oparciu o własną bogatą bazę surowcową uznanie gospodarki chińskiej niespełniającej czterech z pięciu podstawowych wymogów za rynkową stanowi poważne wyzwanie dla producentów w Europie. Podano przykłady działań konsolidacyjnych, wzmacniających pozycję niektórych dużych producentów w Europie oraz pokazano zachodzące w kraju zmiany w obszarze B+R. Zdaniem analityków w najbliższym okresie ze względu na presję wywołaną zmniejszeniem produkcji przez głównych odbiorców materiałów ogniotrwałych prawdopodobne są dalsze procesy konsolidacyjne.

Production of refractory materials in Poland and Europe in the last 10 years has been characterized in comparison with the global production. The international trade balance has been discussed with emphasis on the influence of innovation and quality of materials produced in Europe on the increase of their export. Threats that affect the competitiveness of products manufactured in Europe have been presented. Energy costs have been compared and the influence of Union regulations including ETS and REACH on manufacturing costs has been highlighted. Particular attention has been paid to changes taking place in China. It has been emphasized that in the situation of refractory materials’ overproduction, accompanied by an increased spare capacity in the steel industry and enhanced quality of the manufactured materials based on the country’s own supply area, the recognition of the Chinese economy, which does not fulfil four of the five basic requirements, as a market one is a serious challenge for European producers. Examples of consolidation activities which strengthen the position of some big manufacturers in Europe and the changes occurring in the R&D area in Poland have been presented. In the opinion of analysts, in near future, due to the pressure caused by a decrease in the production by the main recipients of refractory materials, there is a high likelihood of further consolidation processes.

W artykule przedstawiono zasadnicze kwestie dotyczące edukacji w zakresie archi-tektury krajobrazu w kontekście udziału studentów w konkursach. Umiejętności absolwenta kierunku architektura krajobrazu zależą w dużej mierze również od możliwości sprawdzenia się w profesjonalnej praktyce projektowej i realizacyjnej odbywanej jeszcze podczas studiów. W artykule przytoczono przykłady prac konkursowych studentów architektury krajobrazu uwieńczone nagrodami w ramach konkursów studenckich o charakterze studialnym i realizacyjnym.

The article presents the main issues concerning education in landscape architecture in the context of students participation in competitions. Graduate skills in landscape architecture depend on the possibility of checking in the professional practice of design and realization performed as a student. The article cited examples of entries crowned with prizes in students competitions.

Creating cluster's initiatives, according to the contemporary local and international experiences, is one of the key stimulants of the economical advancement on the both regional and national level. The importance of this formation for creating innovative economy based on knowledge and their role in implementing the economical development policy is underlined by the growing number of clusters in Poland. The paper presents situation of the chosen business cluster in the Podlaskie Province and regional circumstances of their formulation. It is also focused on business expectation and determinants of clusters development. This paper has been prepared in the scope of the project "Role and impact of process approach on management and functioning of business cluster initiatives" granted by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
