In the paper the experimental studies methodology of concrete electrical power engineering poles was presented. The loads programs are being applied in elastic and failure tests of concrete poles were discussed. The criteria of strains, cracking and load capacity assessment were described. In the paper the method of testing of poles subjected to torsion and bending was also described. The experimental set-up in Institute of Building Engineering of Wroclaw University of Technology was shown.

In modernizing of railways new structural solutions are being applied more and more courageously – including post-tensioned prestressed spun concrete columns. The attempts of industrial implementation of post-tensioned prestressed concrete traction columns produced by Strunobet-Migacz Ltd. were undertaken in 2011 and 2012 on the railway No 61 Czestochowa – Kielce. In the presenting paper the methodology of investigations and the results of trial loads of post-tensioned prestressed spun concrete traction columns used on this railway were described.
