The study suggests using biogas plants as highly flexible energy sources. A critical step in deciding on their use involves predictive insights on the energy-efficiency metrics of the proposed biogas-based energy supply system compared to the current centralized model. Energy efficiency metrics were assessed through an analysis of energy balances, built using average statistical data on losses and energy consumption at biogas facilities. This approach is recommended for use in the early stages of defining technical requirements, enabling informed decisions about constructing or upgrading existing energy systems. Implementing biogas plants (BGP) as local power sources proves economically competitive when compared to centralized systems like thermal power plants (TPP) and boiler facilities. BGPs share a similar structure with these systems but operate with fewer areas needed for operations. Integrating BGPs can help reduce national dependence on imported energy, correct imbalances in the energy system due to their flexibility, and lower the cost of energy - whether electrical, thermal, or chemical (such as fertilizers) - for specific manufacturing enterprises. Data on the energy balance reveals that 73% of BGP energy resources are concentrated in biomass.
