Possibilities of using unmanned combat assets in tactical operations in the mountains

The dynamic development of technology related to unmanned combat assets significantly contributes to the possibilities of their deployment in armed conflicts. The use of broadly understood unmanned combat vehicles in difficult mountainous terrain may significantly increase the effectiveness of tasks carried out by units and units in this combat environment. The article presents basic information on autonomous vehicles, describes factors affecting the conduct of military operations in the mountains, and, on the basis of experience resulting from contemporary armed conflicts, a synthetic analysis of the possibility of using unmanned combat assets in military operations in a mountainous terrain was carried out. The main goal of the article is to present the potential tasks that can be performed by unmanned vehicles in order to achieve the assumed results during combat in the mountains while minimizing human losses.

Dynamiczny rozwój technologii związanej z bezzałogowymi środkami walki w sposób znaczący wpływa na zwiększenie możliwości ich wykorzystania w konfliktach zbrojnych. Zastosowanie szeroko rozumianych bezzałogowców w trudnym, górskim terenie może istotnie podwyższyć efektywność zadań realizowanych przez pododdziały i oddziały w tym środowisku walki. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe informacje dotyczące pojazdów autonomicznych, opisano czynniki mające wpływ na prowadzenie działań wojskowych w górach, a także na podstawie doświadczeń wynikających ze współczesnych konfliktów zbrojnych dokonano syntetycznej analizy możliwości zastosowania bezzałogowych środków walki w działaniach wojskowych w terenie górzystym. Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie potencjalnych zadań, które mogą być wykonywane przez bezzałogowce, aby osiągać zakładane rezultaty podczas walki w górach przy jednoczesnej minimalizacji strat w ludziach.

The extreme concentration of tangible and non-tangible resources in the environment of the Smart City calls for their securing and protection. In the case of threat emergence, the military would have to enter areas where local authorities cannot guarantee the security of Smart City assets. Thus, the question arises whether or not Smart Cities could potentially assist the military forces in performing their tasks better on the battlefield. Some military agencies are currently exploring the possibility of using the military in Smart Cities. For instance, the United States Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is studying whether smart city communications and infrastructure could be of use on the future battlefield. This paper aims to indicate the potential for expansion and integration of the anti-aircraft defense systems to serve the needs of urban defense, thereby allowing the achievement of air superiority and implementing the assumptions of A2/AD systems. In reference to the research objective formulated in such a way, discovering the answers to the following questions was deemed crucial: What is the state of the current Anti-Aircraft Defense (AAD) system of urban centers, in particular Smart Cities? What are the possibilities of expanding and improving this system? How can the SMART CITY system be integrated and serve as an element of strengthening the AAD system? In order to answer the indicated questions, this article was written with the use of qualitative method consisting of text and literature exploratory research and analysis, and comparative analyzes of Smart Cities and Air Defense in contemporary military operations. To achieve the assumed aim, the authors have also conducted the evaluation of Air Defense combat capabilities, as well as the changes that have occurred in the environment of Smart Cities. The authors used thematic analysis methods to interpret patterns and meanings in the data.

Celem artykułu było wskazanie kluczowej roli Straży Granicznej w zakresie zwalczania przestępstw o charakterze transgranicznym - terroryzmu oraz przestępczości zorganizowanej. Dokonano również charakterystyki zagrożenia płynącego z tych zjawisk oraz działań międzynarodowych w skali regionalnej ukierunkowanej na ich zwalczaniu.

The aim of the article was to identify the key role of the Border Guard in combating cross-border crimes - terrorism and organized crime. The risks these phenomena evoke have also been characterized, as well as the international action on a regional scale, focused on fighting them.

The article aims at presenting the way the perception of the essence of a contemporary operation has changed along with the changes in the international security environment and how the significance of information in combat logistics has evolved. The first part of the study comprises the synthesis of the content characterizing the international security environment and the terms defining a contemporary military operation. The subsequent, subdivided, parts contain the synthesis of materials identifying the term “information” and aim at presenting its essence and role in the contemporary combat logistics. The content focusing on the significance of information in logistics has been substantiated with numerous examples from history. The article was prepared on the basis of multifaceted analyses of professional literature as well as periodicals concentrating on both logistics support and information, which made it possible to carry out the synthesis and formulate conclusions.
