The article presents a modular structure of a pneumatic gun developed at the Institute for Sustainable Technologies in Radom. The gun is intended to throw the subcaliber and full caliber missiles to determine the resistance of the aviation construction elements to the impact. This solution is intended to experimental tests that allow a simulation and recreation of the collision effect of the aircraft or other rapidly movement transportation typical for birds or solid elements. The gun with a caliber of 250 mm fires a missile weighting few kilograms with a speed that exceeds the sound speed. This article presents the main actuation modules and describes their operation such as independent functional devices. Basic subsystems of the device are: an air preparation module, a lock module, a trigger module, a barrel, a support and exit module device. This article presents the procedures that took place during firing a gun, and the energy characteristics of this device.
