The paper is focused on social prestige attributed to a specific category of managers - supervisory staff. Mining supervisory staff is a large professional group forming a hierarchy structure of coal mining management; a group which is not only to manage current production tasks but also participate in designing and managing changes leading to technological and organisational changes and economical efficiency of mining and whole sector. Participation of supervisory staff in these activities has influence on their course (in terms of alteration time and range) and the size of prestige may strengthen or weaken credibility of the above mentioned processes, as prestige is considered as essential indicator of human behaviour.
