Presents the potential hazards that may exist in workplaces done by road worker. The types of protective clothing under the laws of the European Union. Protective clothing is divided into three categories depending on the degree of risk. Quoted examples of standards for protective clothing. Also depicts themes related to the warning clothing designed for people doing road works. It was found that in order to ensure compliance by the manufacturer of personal protective equipment with the requirements of both protective clothing, as well as high-visibility clothing is necessary to use a harmonized European standards being developed by CEN and CENELEC.

Odzież ochronna dla strażaka jako wyrób należący do grupy środków ochrony indywidualnej podlega wytycznym i aktom prawnym obowiązującym we wszystkich krajach Unii Europejskiej. Członkostwo Polski w Unii Europejskiej wymaga dostosowania parametrów odzieży specjalnej do standardów obowiązujących w UE, stąd celowym jest podejmowanie w tym kierunku prac badawczo-rozwojowych. W artykule zostały szczegółowo omówione podstawowe wymagania bezpieczeństwa dotyczące ubrań ochronnych stosowanych w działaniach ratowniczych prowadzonych przez jednostki straży pożarnej.

Protective clothing for firemen as a produkt belonging to the group of individual protection means is subject to the guidelines and law acts in due across all of the Europe Union countries. The membership of Poland in the EU requires adopting the parameters of special clothing to the standards in due within EU, therefore taking research and development work towards it is advisable. The article discusses in details the basic requirements concerning the protective clothing.
