The article deals with the role of Architecture-&-Building systems in Residential and Public Construction. The concept and definition of the Architecture-&-Building systems are determined and reviewed. The structural model of Architecture-&-Building systems that have signs of integrity, the hierarchy of structure and openness is proposed. They include three main subsystems, which are in organic unity and interaction: functional-spatial (architectural and planning); constructive (tectonic); technological (production-building).

Artykuł dotyczy roli systemów architektonicznych i budowlanych w budownictwie mieszkaniowym i publicznym. Koncepcja i definicja systemów architektonicznych i budowlanych są określone i przejrzane. Zaproponowano model strukturalny systemów architektonicznych i budowlanych o oznakach integralności, hierarchii struktury i otwartości. Te systemy obejmują trzy główne podsystemy, które są w organicznej jedności i interakcji: funkcjonalno-przestrzenne (architektoniczne i planistyczne), konstruktywny (tektoniczny), technologiczny (produkcja-budynek).

This paper presents an investigation about acoustic absorption of mortars with partial replacement of sand by waste (plywood formwork, rice husk, and thermoplastic shoe counters), examining different levels of replacement (0%, 5%, 10%, 25%, and 50%). The measurement of acoustic absorption was performed using a plane wave impedance tube with 100 mm diameter, using mortar samples of 20 mm, in frequency range 200-2000 Hz. Results demonstrated that some composite with waste presented noise reduction coefficient (NRC) above the reference mortar (NRC = 0.0343), such as a composite with 50% rice husk (NRC = 0.2757) and other with 50% of plywood waste (NRC = 0.2052). Since there is virtually no cost or difficulty to use these residuals, it may be concluded that it is a sustainable alternative to improve the acoustic comfort and reduce the impact of the waste on the environment.

Urban noises are emitted simultaneously by a wide variety of sources, such as, transportation and activities encountered in large cities. Many studies show that traffic noise followed by noise produced by neighbours are the main disturbing sources. Considering that both traffic and neighbour noise upset people inside their homes, it is possible to conclude that these homes do not display good performance of one of their purposes, which is the one of providing acoustic comfort. This fact is critical in Brazilian homes, as opposed to countries such as Germany and the USA, since these countries have specific rules for acoustic properties of materials used in civil construction, and Brazil does not. The goal of the present study is to show the acoustic performance of materials routinely used in Brazilian civil construction. Measurement procedures both in situ and in the laboratory are presented to determine acoustic performance of the materials, such as: insulation coefficient for air propagation. The results have shown that the acoustic performance of Brazilian constructions, are under international standard.
