Na przykładach sześciu własnych projektów budynków plombowych i dwóch prac dyplomowych wykonanych pod kierunkiem autora pokazano występujące w analizowanych projektach rozwiązania funkcjonalne, przestrzenne oraz konstrukcyjne charakterystyczne dla tego typu zabudowy. Projekty te powstały w latach 1986-2014 jako element trwającego procesu rewitalizacji miast regionu. Zaznaczono wielofunkcyjny charakter prezentowanych budynków. Podkreślono specyficzne cechy tego typu obiektów. Wynikają one z lokalizacji na niewielkich działkach, konieczności uwzględnienia zaleceń konserwatorskich, a także konieczności indywidualnego projektowania konstrukcji budynków w celu dostosowania do sąsiadującej zabudowy. Celem artykułu jest określenie swoistych cech kształtowania budynków plombowych oraz znaczenia urbanistycznych i konserwatorskich uwarunkowań ich projektowania w śródmiejskiej strukturze miast na Górnym Śląsku.

Examples of six own designs of infill buildings and two diploma theses prepared under the supervision of the author, show the functional, spatial and structural solutions found in the analyzed designs, characteristic for this type of development. These projects were created in the years 1986-2014 as part of the ongoing process of revitalizing the cities in the region. The multifunctional character of the presented buildings is marked. The specific features of this type of objects are emphasized. They result from the location on small plots of land, the need to take into account conservation recommendations and the need for individual designed building structures to be adapted to the neighboring buildings. The aim of the article is to define the specific features of the formation of infill buildings and the significance of urban planning and conservation conditions for their design in the downtown structure of cities in Upper Silesia.

Problem rewitalizacji miast jest potrzebą związaną z ogólnym procesem ewolucyjnych przemian społeczno-technicznych. Miasta Górnego Śląska stanowią w tym programie obszar szczególny: polem badawczym i obszarami działania są tutaj przede wszystkim zagadnienia zdrowia publicznego, a w szczególności poprawa warunków życia mieszkańców na zdegradowanych, przemysłowych i poprzemysłowych terenach. Artykuł nawiązuje do planistycznego aspektu tej problematyki. Punktem wyjścia są dane dotyczące miast centralnej części Aglomeracji Górnośląskiej (Katowice - Gliwice). Propozycja modelowego procesu rewitalizacji dotyczy Gliwic. Miasto to, na tle pozostałych miast Aglomeracji, ogniskuje największą ilość czynników warunkujących sukces tych działań.

The problem of town revitalisation is a need connected with a general process of evolutional social-technical changes. Towns of the Upper Silesia Region constitute in this program a special area. Namely, problems of public health and, in particular, improvement of inhabitants' life conditions on degraded industrial and post-industrial grounds are becoming here fields of investigation and areas of acting. The paper is recalling a town planning aspect of this thematic. Moreover, an introductory basis is concerning town data referring to the central part of the Upper Silesia Agglomeration (Katowice - Gliwice). The proposal of a model revitalisation process considers the town of Gliwice, which, on the background of remaining towns of Agglomeration, concentrates the biggest quantity of factors determining a success of this activity.
