The article presents the operational and economic analysis of controlling the cooling water flow in marine steam turbine power plants. The analysis bases on selected designs of the main condenser cooling water pumps and makes use of the results of investigations performed in inland power plants. Special attention was focused on marine aspects of the operation of those systems.

The authors describe further research results that were previously showed during the GRE'98 conference and also in the "Elektriczeskije stancii", No 6, 1998. There are offered applications of heat counters equipped with twenty-four hours data archive for automation of circulating pumps diagnostic. Required measuring accuracy of temperaturę differences comes to 0,03 degrees centigrade. Heat counters are installed in a power unit 250 W, in the Sankt-Petersburg power station.

Przedstawiono dalsze wyniki badań, prezentowanych na konferencji GRE'98 oraz w czasopiśmie "Elektriczeskije stancii", Nr 6, 1998. Zaproponowano zastosowanie liczników ciepła z archiwizacją danych godzinnych (dobowych) dla automatyzacji diagnostyki pomp cyrkulacyjnych, wg oszczędności, z zastosowaniem metody termodynamicznej. Wymagana dokładność pomiarów różnic temperatur wynosi 0,03 st.C. Liczniki ciepła są zastosowane na bloku energetycznym 250 MW elektrowni w Sankt Petersburgu.
