Choroby przewlekłe w postępujący sposób ograniczają funkcjonowanie człowieka w życiu codziennym, w tym zawodowym. Wywierają duży wpływ na zdolność do wykonywania pracy i tym samym do zarobkowania. Etiologia chorób przewlekłych jest wieloczynnikowa. Istotną rolę w ich powstawaniu pełnią czynniki zawodowe i styl życia. Oddziaływanie na te czynniki stanowi jedno z ważniejszych zadań wspierających zatrudnianie osób z chorobami przewlekłymi. W artykule omówiono główne działania w zakresie promocji zdrowego stylu życia i dostosowania warunków pracy do potrzeb osób z chorobą zwyrodnieniową stawów, z wybranymi chorobami układu sercowo-naczyniowego (chorobą wieńcową i nadciśnieniem tętniczym) oraz z cukrzycą.

Chronic diseases are progressively limiting the functioning of persons suffering from them in everyday life, including work activity. They have a great impact on the ability to perform work, and thus the earnings. The etiology of chronic diseases is multifactorial. Occupational factors and lifestyle play an important role in their formation. Influencing these factors is one of the most important measures supporting the employment of people suffering from chronic diseases. The article discusses the main activities in promoting a healthy lifestyle and adjusting working conditions to the needs of people with osteoarthritis, selected diseases of the cardiovascular system (coronary artery disease and hypertension), and diabetes.

W odpowiedzi na potrzebę poszukiwania różnego rodzaju udogodnień dla osób przewlekle chorych, przez grupę studentów Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach, została przeprowadzona ankieta pt. „Domowe roboty medyczne”. Jej stworzenie było możliwe dzięki systemowi Formularzy Google. W ankiecie wzięło udział 200 osób, z czego większość stanowili mężczyźni. Struktura wieku respondentów była zróżnicowana, jednakże największą grupę stanowiły osoby w przedziale wiekowym od 18 do 25 roku życia. W ankiecie znalazły się pytania dotyczące m.in.: zapotrzebowania na domowe roboty medyczne, ich preferowanego wyglądu i rozmiaru, a także sposobu w jaki roboty miałyby kontrolować przytomność pacjenta.

The group of students of Silesian Medical University in Zabrze conducted a poll entitled „Home medical robot” in order to find a proper convenience for chronically ill patients. The survey was created using Google Forms. Two hundred people took part in the poll, the majority was represented by men. The age of respondents was different, but the main group was in the age between 18-25. In the survey there were questions concerning demand for medical robots, preferred appearance and size as well as way of controlling patient’s consciousness.

Problemy aktywności zawodowej ludzi starszych są coraz częściej uwzględniane zarówno w polityce państwa, jak i w programach Unii Europejskiej O możliwościach i chęciach utrzymywania aktywności zawodowej przez osoby starsze decyduje wiele czynników, wśród których stan zdrowia zajmuje jedno z pierwszych miejsc. W tym okresie życia wzrasta częstość występowania wielu problemów zdrowotnych, m.in. chorób układu krążenia, oddychania, mięśniowo-szkieletowego a także zaburzeń hormonalnych i przemiany materii. Dane statystyczne pokazują, że już po 50 r.ż., a więc jeszcze w okresie pełnej aktywności zawodowej, dochodzi do znacznego zwiększenia absencji chorobowej spowodowanej tymi chorobami, co stawia grupę polskich pracowników 50+ w szczególnej sytuacji.

The problems of the occupational activity of older people are increasingly considered both in Poland's poky and m EU programmes. The possibilities and intentions of the elderly to stay active depend on many factors, primarily their health. The incidence of health problems, including cardiovascular, respiratory and musculoskeletal diseases, and hormonal and metabolic disorders increase at this stage of life. Statistics show that at 50, i.e, even at full occupational activity, there is a considerable increase in sickness absence related to those diseases, which puts Polish 50+ workers m a special situation.

Huge, practically uncontrolled, dynamic development of new technologies created mainly in widely understood technology is possible thanks to accumulated capital (banks), and simultaneously is a main factor of both human development as well as unfortunately it also is connected with negative effects regarding destruction of the environment. That is why for the last several years many publication in the world and also in Poland are dedicated to so-called sustainable development, in which Polish scientists' research has important role [21÷29, 32]. The authoress shows in the paper, that in introduced considerations protection of human health as an individual ant then as the community is in the exact relationship with the environment protection (ecology) and is its integral piece. The environment protection is prophylaxis, environment engineering is a diagnosis and improvement of the environment quality and that requires financial funds and protections - that is economy of the environment and the good friendly law concerning the environment protection is necessary (regulations - laws, decrees, controls, fines). So there is analogy to prophylaxis and treatment of human being in medicine. All mentioned above creates certain compact entirety in the reference to sustainable development - as the road to the human prosperity, all the time considering his health as an individual and as a community in parametric correlation with the environment protection (ecology). Unfortunately the drive for prosperity both of an individual and a community exposes on diseases, which are based on the weak psychical immunity (various for various people) - weak psyche is based on small nervous resistance in stress situations. This, in the turn, reduces the immunity of the organism on diseases -particularlythose which become the social plague and which were described (bulimia, diabetes and cancer diseases); first two also on the basis of own sometimes many years' investigations and observations of Authoresses, described from the psychological side.

Work Ability in Ageing Workers Suffering From Chronic Diseases

The aim of this study was to investigate the work ability in ageing workers suffering from osteoarthritis (OA), coronary heart disease (CHD) or hypertension (H). One hundred and sixty-six OA and 355 CHD/H outpatients were evaluated. The Work Ability Index (WAI) served for work ability assessment. Patients’ results were compared with the results of a control group of 225 healthy young workers. Statistical analysis was performed with ANOVA tests. WAI in female and male CHD/H patients was higher than in OA patients (p < .01), better work ability was related to better education (p < .01), white-collar work (p < .01) and better recreation (p < .01); subjective work ability was determined mostly by the objective health status. The promotion of work ability among workers suffering from advanced age-related diseases should be closely related to the promotion of health. It is indicative to improve occupational education and skills, already at an early stage of a disease.
