In order to obtain a durable anti-ultraviolet and antibacterial cotton fabric, silk fibroin, honeysuckle extract (chlorogenic acid) and citric acid were used to prepare a compound environment-friendly finishing agent, and then the cotton fabric was modified in this paper. Micro-morphology and properties were compared between cotton fabrics finished with a composite solution of silk fibroin/chlorogenic acid/citric acid and those finished first with silk fibroin then chlorogenic acid. Results showed that amidation and esterification crosslinking reactions occurred between the compounds and cotton fibers. Cotton fabric treated with the composite solution had higher UPF value (>90 after 30 launderings) and antibacterial rates (>95% for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli). There existed strong covalent bonds and good synergistic effects among silk fibroin, citric acid and chlorogenic acid, which could endow the cotton fabric with more durable anti-ultraviolet and antibacterial properties.

The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of the use of an agent inhibiting ethylene release - 1-Methylcyclopropene in the storage of selected apple varieties ‘Szampion’, ‘Gloster’, ‘Elstar’, ‘Ligol’, ‘Idared’, ‘Jonagold’, and ‘Honeygold’ originating from orchards of the Fruit Plant in Wtelno and stored in chambers with a controlled atmosphere. Laboratory analyzes were performed immediately after harvest and after 6 months of storage in chambers under ULO conditions (<2% O2, <2%CO2) at a temperature of 1.5-2.0°C and relative air humidity of 95-96%. Fruits treated with 1-MCP were characterized by significantly lower losses of bioactive compounds, especially vitamin C, compared to untreated apples. The contents of total polyphenols and chlorogenic acid remained at a similar level as after harvest in untreated apple samples. After the storage period, the ‘Szampion’ variety contained significantly the most polyphenolic compounds, and the least - the ‘Honeygold’ variety, where the highest decrease was also recorded during storage (26.7%) in fruits not treated with 1-MCP. After storage, the ‘Ligol’ and ‘Elstar’ cultivars had the significantly highest content of chlorogenic acid. The highest losses of chlorogenic acid during apple storage (32.4%) were observed in the ‘Honeygold’ variety. The lowest loss of ascorbic acid during apple storage ((34.9%) was observed in the ‘Idared’ variety, and the highest loss in the ‘Honeygold’ variety (66.8%).

An easy, quick, and sensitive approach adopting ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) equipped with diode array detector was used to analyze and systematically evaluate the quality of Pudilan tablets manufactured by 12 distinct pharmaceutical companies. In this research, 15 peaks were chosen as the common peaks to assess the similarities for different batches (S1–S43) of Pudilan tablet samples. In comparison with the control fingerprint, similarity values for 43 batches of samples exceeded 0.922. In addition, by analyzing the reference substances of epigoitrin, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, acetylcorynoline, baicalin and baicanshialein, the chromatogram of the 6 reference substances was established. The recoveries for the reference substances which demonstrated good regression in the linear range (r2 > 0.999) were in the range of 98.3–101.1%. The results demonstrated that the established method was highly accurate, efficient and reliable. This study provides a valid, dependable and pragmatic method to evaluate the quality of Pudilan tablet.

The main features of coffee as a raw material and its bioactive ingredients, such as polyphenols, caffeine, trigonelline, choline, diterpenes, and irritants are presented. The pipeline of the technological process of obtaining roasted coffee and its impact on human health was presented and discussed as well. Coffee has been recognized as a safe and health-promoting drink when consumed in moderate amounts by adults.

Coffee is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world. It contains many bioactive compounds, including chlorogenic acid which possesses various biological properties. In this study, in order to determine concentration of chlorogenic acid in green coffee, a reverse-phase rapid resolution liquid chromatography (RP-RRLC) method with diode-array detection (DAD) was developed. Successful separation was achieved on a Poroshell 120 EC-C18 (50 mm × 3 mm; 2.7 μm) column using acetonitrile–water with 1% phosphoric acid (10:90, v/v) as a mobile phase, at a flow rate of 1 mL/min, and with UV detection at 325 nm. The identification was made with comparison of the retention time of pure analytical standard with the retention time of chlorogenic acid in the analyzed samples. The developed method was validated using the following parameters: linearity, sensitivity, selectivity, precision, and accuracy. Excellent linearity over the range 12.33–143.50 μg/mL was achieved with R2 values greater than 0.99. The intra-day precision was validated with the %RSD values, which confirmed that the method for determination of chlorogenic acid was repeatable. The mean recovery rate of the method ranged between 97.87% and 106.67% with %RSD values lower than 1%. The limit of detection and limit of quantification values under the used chromatographic conditions were 0.29 and 0.96 pg, respectively. This method was successfully employed for quantitative determination of chlorogenic acid in green coffee samples.

Kwasy chlorogenowe to związki fenolowe pochodzenia naturalnego, obecne w wielu popularnych produktach spożywczych.

Two SiO₂ samples were prepd. by conversion of (EtO)₄Si, modified with a com. nonionic surfactant and optionally with 1,3,5-Me₃C₆H₃ and NH₄F precursors, and functionalized with H₂N(CH₂)₃Si(OEt)₃ added at molar ratio 1:6 to the SiO₂. VAdsorption of chlorogenic acid from its Me₂CHOH solns. (concn. 350–7000 mg/L) was studied at 25°C by shaking a suspension of modified silica sample in the chlorogenic acid soln. for 24 h and then spectrophotometric assaying the concn. of chlorogenic acid remaining in the liq. phase after removal of the adsorbent. Both adsorbents had similar waveforms of isotherms and the max. of adsorption capacity at 250 or 244 mg/g. Moreover, the morphol. of SiO₂ samples was studied by scanning electron microscopy.
