The following article is an attempt at a condensed description of the history of the Tarnobrzeskie Zagłębie Siarkowe (the sulphur mining district), covering the history of the combine and the sulphur mines that were part of it. The main objective of the article is to highlight the following three elements: the extremely dynamic development of a new type of sulphur mining and refining in an area with no previous history of mining and chemical traditions, the great effort and dedication of the company staff creating a new branch of the Polish mining and refining industry and the unprecedented significance of this industry for the development not only of Tarnobrzeg with its surroundings, but also the whole of Poland.

Już od lat 90. XX w. w środowiska naukowe zgłębiają temat wizerunku miast w oczach różnych grup społecznych. Badania te koncentrują się na analizie skojarzeń i wyobrażeń o konkretnym miejscu. Zazwyczaj uwzględniają one opinie użytkowników miasta oparte na różnych źródłach, np. przewodnikach czy czasopismach. Tworzone w ten sposób informacje kształtują obraz oparty na cechach porównujących i upodabniających jedno miasto do drugiego.

Catalytic reduction of nitrous oxide at a nitric acid plant in Bulgaria

A nitric acid plant in Devnya, Bulgaria has implemented a project for catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide which resulted in reducing N2O emissions from the plant and the overall N2O emissions from the industrial sector in Bulgaria. After implementing the catalyst in September 2005 till the end of 2011, a total amount of 3133 Mg N2O emissions has been measured while the supposed value of N2O emissions without the catalyst being installed would have been 9747 Mg which means a total reduction of 6614 Mg. The results from the research prove the emission reduction potential of the catalyst.
