Rozkład jazdy pociągów stanowi podstawowy plan według którego realizowany jest proces eksploatacyjny w transporcie kolejowym. Sporządza się go na podstawie wykresu ruchu pociągów, którego rodzaje zmieniały się historycznie adekwatnie do rozwoju technologii przewozów kolejowych. W przewozach pasażerskich rozkład jazdy jest także odwzorowaniem oferty przewozowej dla klientów – pasażerów. Nowoczesne systemy intermodalne wymagają zastosowania rozkładu symetrycznego o specyficznych zasadach konstrukcji. W referacie przedstawiono syntetycznie etapy rozwoju rozkładu jazdy w ujęciu historycznym. Zaprezentowano również zasady budowy rozkładu symetrycznego w powiązaniu z nowoczesnymi zasadami kształtowania oferty przewozowej, nawiązującej do preferencji klientów oraz do zasad organizacji przewozów w transporcie publicznym, w którym szczególna rola przypada kolejowym przewozom pasażerskim

The time-schedule of trains constitutes the basic plan according to which the exploitation process in railway transportation is realized. It is prepared on the basis of the graph of movement of trains whose kinds have been changing historically according to the development of the technology of railway transports. The time-schedule in passenger transport is also the reflection of transports offer for customers – passengers. Modern intermodal systems require use of symmetrical schedule with specific principles of construction. The stages of the development of the time-schedule were briefly presented in the report from the historical point of view. Furthermore there were shown principles of construction of symmetrical time-schedule in connection with the modern rules of the creation of the transport offer, related to the customers preferences and to the principles of organization of transport in the public transportation in which the special part is played by railway passenger transport.
