W szeroko rozumianej diagnostyce poszukuje się takich parametrów fizycznych, które odzwierciedlałyby w pełni stan monitorowanego obiektu. W eksploatacji i diagnostyce napędów elektrycznych z pewnością pomiar i analiza prądu należą do najważniejszych.

General diagnostics searches for physical parameters that would fully reflect the condition of a controlled device. Yet current measurement and analysis are most important in case of utilisation and diagnostics of electrical drives. A current signal contains many information about operation of the device through which it flows. Accurate measurement of electric current is very important not only for technical, but also economical reasons. It is necessary to determine the volume of electric energy flowing between its producers and consumers The information about "current" in respect of time and frequency is essential for utilisation and diagnostics of electric machines. In measurement practice, it is required to measure current of a very large range, often from an electric charge (pC) to hundreds kA. The frequency spectrum is also huge: from direct current to GHz. Owing to their enormous metrological advantages, Chattock-Rogowski coils have increased in popularity for current measurements and current diagnostics of electric machines in state-of-the-art digital systems of electrical power engineering and mining automation, i.e. power safety controls. The article focuses on selected applications of Chattock-Rogowski coils in industrial practice.
