Distribution of the manufactured agricultural products in aspect of the world population nutrition

In the present paper, the world food situation, with the particular consideration of production of cereals, sunflower, corn(maize), rape and soya has been presented. The mentioned above products have the greatest impact on the nutrition of the world population. It has occurred that Ukraine has a considerable effect on food ensuring what is aimed at avoiding the occurrence of the nutrition problems in many countries in different world parts. The discussed situation was revealed after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. About 20 million tons of Ukrainian cereals, as being stored in harbours of Ukraine have been blocked against the possibility of sale to the customers in different countries of the world where - in the case of lack of the mentioned product - the phenomenon of hunger is expected. Ukraine is the leading producer of rape and sunflower oil.

W artykule przedstawiono światową sytuację żywnościową, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem produkcji zbóż, słonecznika, kukurydzy, rzepaku oraz soi. Produkty te mają największy wpływ na wyżywienie ludności świata. Okazuje się, że Ukraina ma znaczący wpływ na zabezpieczenie żywności dla uniknięcia wystąpienia problemów wyżywienia wielu krajów w różnych regionach świata. Sytuacja ta wyraźnie wyszła na jaw po wybuchu wojny na Ukrainie. Około 20 milionów ukraińskiego zboża składowanego w portach Ukrainy zostało zablokowane przed możliwością sprzedaży do odbiorców w różnych krajach świata, gdzie w razie braku tego zboża wystąpi zjawisko głodu. Ukraina jest czołowym producentem rzepaku oraz oleju słonecznikowego.

Drivers of Cereal Production Efficiency Improvement in Kazakhstan – the Case of the Kostanay Region

The COVID-19 outbreak has seriously affected the global food security at a time when it was significantly compromised by the effects of climate change and armed conflicts. The impact of the pandemic and quarantine restrictions imposed in response to the deadly virus brought humanity face-to-face with a new threat – that of food insecurity – which contributed to a high social demand for state-of-the-art methods of improving the cereal production efficiency. The aim of the study is to develop and implement a methodological approach to enhancing the cereal production efficiency. The methodology of the study relies on time series that made it possible to determine the main trends in regional cereal production and make projections. Application of the suggested approach in the Kostanay region revealed that this region was among the key cereal producers in the country. In 2019, the region was affected by extreme weather, which caused a sharp decline in cereal production. The present study, however, projects large opportunities for cereal production growth in the region and a significant increase in cereal production in the future. In addition, the paper suggests the following action plan to improve efficiency of the cereal production sector in the Kostanay region: streamlining of state support arrangements for cereal producers; development of affordable crop insurance products; systemic steps to increase cereal yields; development of logistic infrastructure; comprehensive monitoring of cereal production to develop a system of rapid response to changes in the external environment.

Produkcja zbóż w Polsce i ich przetwórstwo wykazuje niewielką tendencję wzrostową. W ostatnich latach rozwija się natomiast produkcja i przetwórstwo rzepaku. Tendencje te utrzymają się prawdopodobnie także w najbliższych latach. Przyspieszenie rozwoju obu sektorów zależy głównie od zakresu i stabilności wsparcia producentów biopaliwa, postępu w rolnictwie, stosowania żywności GM oraz od stabilności ekonomicznych warunków produkcji zbóż.

Cereal production and processing in Poland is featured with a weak upward tendency. On the other hand the production and processing of rape seed in recent years is growing very fast. Acceleration in the development of these sectors is up to the scope and stability of the support for the bio-fuel producers as well as up to a need for improvement in agriculture, including the use of GMO food and stability of economic conditions of cereal production.
